Mayo didn't give Fortune a second thought.
In his mind, Fortune was just a helpless, lonely old man.
Even if someone like that dropped dead, it would barely make a ripple.
As for Caitlin? He thought even less of her. A twenty-year-old slip of a girl!
If any trouble arose, she could be easily dealt with.
One was a lonely old man, the other an abandoned girl. Did they really think the two of them could turn Silverhaven upside down?
Ever since The Chandler Group fell and Apex Game Studios moved to The Capital, The Lowell Group, second only to Sylvester Group, practically ran the show in Silverhaven.
Mayo was the uncrowned king here.
If that orphan girl Caitlin wanted to get the better of him, she'd need to have some connection to Sylvester Group.
And what were the chances of that? Absolutely zero.
At that thought, a sinister glint appeared in Mayo's eyes. He turned to Wilfred and said, "I'm leaving this to you. Get it done, and you'll be well rewarded."
Wilfred's face lit up with excitement. "Yes, Mayo. Don't worry, I won't disappoint you. I'll handle this beautifully."
Everyone wants to climb the ladder.
Wilfred certainly wasn't going to miss an opportunity to advance his career.
Just you wait, he thought. That stubborn old fool is about to learn his lesson.

The Capital.
Gordon drove Caitlin home.
