"Yes, ma'am. Please accept our condolences."
Condolences…
Condolences!
The world spun around Old Mrs. Somerset. She felt dizzy, on the verge of collapsing. Just an hour ago, her grandson had been alive and vibrant, laughing and talking with her. Now, he was a cold, lifeless body. It was unacceptable. She couldn't accept it.
"No! No!" she shrieked, tears streaming down her face. "You're wrong! My grandson is alive! He has to be alive!"
The lead paramedic sighed wearily and turned to Flossie. "I understand how difficult this is for your family, but we truly did everything possible. If you don't want to bury your own children, you have a responsibility as parents to watch them properly." How could they have let a child fall into the water right under their noses? Besides, during the rescue attempt, he'd heard the murmurs from the crowd. If it weren't for Old Mrs. Somerset bringing this upon herself, for her callous disregard for life and her act of destroying the swimming ring, none of this would have happened.
He couldn't stop himself from looking at Old Mrs. Somerset and saying, "Now that your child is gone, you know how to cry. But where were these tears when everyone was begging you for that swimming ring?" It was a perfect case of her evil deeds coming back to bite her.
Old Mrs. Somerset couldn't take it anymore. She looked up past the paramedic, her gaze landing on the Gonzales family in the crowd. Why? Why was her grandson gone while that old witch Keira Gonzales got to enjoy a day out hiking with her granddaughter? The Gonzales family! It was all their fault! They knew it was Dragon who had fallen in, but they deliberately kept it from her. Now that they had killed her grandson, she wouldn't let them get away with it!
A dark, venomous hatred filled her eyes. She surreptitiously snatched a scalpel from the open ambulance kit and charged into the crowd. "You little bitch! I'll kill you!"
She would make the Gonzales family lose their heir, too! An eye for an eye!
*Thwack!*
It happened in a flash. Seeing the old woman lunging at her, Caitlin’s pupils constricted. She braced herself to defend, but Stuart, who was standing beside her, reacted instantly. With a swift, powerful kick, he sent Old Mrs. Somerset sprawling to the ground.
*Clatter.*
