A man who would haggle over five dollars—how could he possibly be so generous to someone he wasn't even related to? Eight hundred thousand dollars in a single transfer? And there was more than one! It simply didn't fit Gordon's character.
It seemed her precious granddaughter was head over heels for Gordon.
Before, Keira had thought it was a good thing that her granddaughter took after her. But now... now she felt it wasn't good at all. All because she was a sucker for a pretty face. And so was her granddaughter! If she weren't, her granddaughter wouldn't be going through this ordeal.
Caitlin looked at Keira. "Grandma, please don't look at me like that. Gordon really did transfer this to me. He's not cheap. You and Mom are mistaken. In all the time I've known him, he's always been a man of excellent character and strong principles."
"We're kindred spirits."
To this day, Caitlin had yet to find a single flaw in Gordon. His good qualities, on the other hand, just kept piling up.
*Ring, ring, ring—*
Caitlin's phone rang.
She answered it. "Hello? Okay, I'll be right there."
Hanging up, Caitlin turned to Carey and Keira. "Mom, Grandma, the R&D department has an urgent meeting. I have to go."
With that, she grabbed her bag and headed out.
Watching Caitlin's retreating figure, Keira turned to Carey. "Carey, do you believe that all that money came from Gordon?"
Carey shook her head. "It's probably all our Freya's own money."
Keira's eyes lit up. "See, we're on the same page!"
Carey continued, "But from the way Freya looks at him, she's clearly in love with Gordon. Mom, this is going to be difficult."
The love in a person's eyes can't be hidden. Carey had been through it herself.
Keira rubbed her temples. "Don't worry. How long have they been together? They're in the honeymoon phase, so Freya is willing to overlook all of Gordon's flaws. But over time, she'll surely realize something is wrong. She'll dump him eventually."
Carey nodded, thinking Keira had a point.
