THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 57

Front seat?

Why did he want him in the front seat?

Skyler stared, completely baffled.

When he didn't move, Gordon frowned. "Did you go deaf?"

Skyler snapped to attention, quickly opening the passenger door. "Oh, right, coming!"

Gordon opened the rear door on his side, leaning out to greet, "Miss Kensington."

Miss Kensington!

Hearing the name, Skyler froze, whipping his head around—and sure enough, caught a glimpse of Caitlin's silhouette.

"Boss Caitlin!" he blurted out before he could stop himself.

Caitlin glanced back, her face framed under her hat, features as if brushed by an artist's hand. "Mr. Sylvester, Mr. Cumming. What a coincidence."

Gordon's lips curled slightly. "Quite the coincidence indeed. Headed somewhere, Miss Kensington?"

"Home," she replied.

Gordon gave a polite nod. "It's sweltering out here. If you don't mind, I can have my driver take you."

Skyler: ???

Drive Caitlin home?

Wasn't his uncle always strict about that rule of his?

And… "on the way"? Since when? Caitlin's place was in the opposite direction of the Sylvester estate!

And just a minute ago, Raven was on the verge of tears begging for a ride, but Gordon hadn't even considered it.

Most importantly—if anyone was "on the way," it was the Cartwrights, not Caitlin.

Gordon hadn't even spared Raven a second glance.

If Raven saw this, she'd probably explode from sheer indignation.

Caitlin glanced up at the blazing sun. "Are you sure it's not a bother?"

"No trouble at all," Gordon replied smoothly. "We're not in any rush."

"Thank you, then." Caitlin's voice was light as a breeze.

Gordon opened the back door. "After you."

Skyler watched Gordon's hand resting on the door, his expression growing more complicated by the second.

Wait a minute…

Was the whole business with the front seat just to make room for Boss Caitlin?

Oh. My. God.

No way! Was Uncle Gordon really… interested in her? Was the old tree finally blossoming?

No wonder the "wrong direction" suddenly became "on the way." No wonder Uncle Gordon forgot all about his rules the moment he saw Caitlin!

So it wasn't that he disliked sharing a car with women. He just hadn't met the right one!

With this epiphany, Skyler's face became a kaleidoscope of shock and amusement.

Inside the car, Caitlin and Gordon sat side by side.

Not too close, not too far. But Gordon couldn't help but notice the delicate scent of bamboo drifting from her, subtle and natural—infinitely more appealing than any artificial perfume.

Perhaps worried she'd feel awkward, Gordon opened the mini fridge. "There's water and coffee in here, Miss Kensington. Please, help yourself to whatever you like."

The fridge was spacious, but inside were only two choices: water and black coffee.
