“Yes, Madam.”
The butler turned and left the room.
Moments later, Ann stepped in from the hallway.
It was her first time at the Richards estate.
As soon as she crossed the threshold and entered the grand foyer, she was awestruck. Even though the Gonzales family was the most prestigious in the city and the Gonzales Manor was impressive in its own right, it still paled in comparison to the Richards family’s opulence.
The Richards estate stood in the most exclusive part of Neon Spire.
The foyer alone was breathtaking—everywhere Ann looked, she found luxury. Even the most ordinary-looking decorations were designer pieces, each one costing more than an average person’s home. No wonder people called the Richards family the uncrowned rulers of Neon Spire; the title was clearly well deserved.
Ann couldn’t help but gaze around, her excitement building as she imagined herself as the future lady of this house. She was determined: not only would she inherit the Gonzales fortune, she would also win the Richards estate for herself.
Suppressing the glint of greed in her eyes, Ann composed herself and walked further into the hall. “Grandma Hannah, are you feeling any better? I brought you some supplements to help you recover.”
Of course, Ann knew Hannah didn’t need any of these things—she wanted for nothing. But she also knew that, sometimes, it’s the thought that counts.
As she spoke, Ann’s gaze landed on the young woman sitting beside Hannah.
Caitlin.
Not only that—Caitlin was holding Hannah’s hand, the two of them looking every bit like a devoted grandmother and granddaughter.
Ann scoffed inwardly. Shameless, she thought. Just because Hannah had called her “Freya” in a moment of confusion yesterday, did Caitlin really believe she could take on that identity? And now she dared show up at the Richards estate again? Who did she think she was?
Hannah turned to Ann and nodded. “I’m feeling much better, thanks to Catie’s care. Please, have a seat, Ann.”
