THE DIVORCE GAMBIT From Dumped Wife to CEO's Forever novel Chapter 250

“Not Freya?”

“It’s Caitlin.”

Caitlin’s voice snapped Hannah back to reality.

Jade spoke up as well. “Mom, this is Dr. Kensington—the one who saved your life.”

At that, Hannah lifted her gaze to Caitlin, her eyes full of complicated emotion.

But… this young woman really does look so much like Carey.

Hannah squeezed Caitlin’s hand tightly. Her voice was hoarse from crying. “Dr. Kensington, thank you for saving this old woman’s life. From this day forward, you are the greatest benefactor our family has ever known.”

The truth was, Hannah wasn’t afraid of dying. Everyone gets old, and no one escapes the end.

But what haunted her was the thought of never seeing her daughter or her granddaughter again before she left this world.

No one could know how overwhelmed she’d been when she first woke up and saw Caitlin standing there. For a moment, she truly believed she’d found Freya—that this young woman was her own granddaughter. That she was Freya.

“Hannah, you’re too kind,” Caitlin replied gently. “As a doctor, it’s my duty to save lives.” She added, “You’ve just started to recover. It’s important to rest and avoid any unnecessary excitement.”

There wasn’t a trace of arrogance in Caitlin’s tone. She was like a rare orchid blooming on a cliff—remarkable, yet never boastful.

After speaking, Caitlin helped Hannah lie back down and tucked the blanket around her.

Warren, as if recalling something, asked, “Dr. Kensington, when will my mother be able to go home?”

“She can be discharged at any time,” Caitlin answered, “but she’ll need to continue her medication for another week to stabilize her condition.”

At that, Stephanie spoke up. “Dr. Kensington, my mom can’t stand bitter medicine. Is there any way you could prescribe pills instead?”

Pills are easier to swallow, especially for the elderly.
