Everyone has their limits.
Gordon was no exception.
Kneeling on a washboard for punishment? Not a chance.
He'd never kneel on one in his entire life.
Hearing this, Justice laughed and shook his head. "Gordon, don't be so confident. For all you know, you might end up even more whipped than I am." After all, the Sylvester men had a family tradition—they all listened to their wives.
The women in the Sylvester family were masters at keeping their husbands in line.
And the men?
All notorious for being loving yet utterly under their wives' thumbs.
Frankly, Justice was looking forward to the day Gordon would have to grovel to his future wife. The thought alone was pure entertainment.
Serves him right, Justice thought, since Gordon was always teasing him about being henpecked.
Gordon, however, didn't take Justice's words to heart. "Brother-in-law, just because you caved doesn't mean I will. Don't project your fate onto me."
Justice grinned. "I'm just saying, what if, one day, you turn into a lovesick puppy yourself?"
"I'm not the marrying type," Gordon replied, reclining against his chair and speaking in his usual cool tone. "So your prediction is pointless."
Justice could only purse his lips in defeat.
Fine. Perfect comeback. Let's just see if his brother-in-law really stays single forever.
After a pause, Justice changed the subject. "Back to the point—Gordon, could you please help me get in touch with your sister? I have no idea if she's still mad at me. It was my fault, I was careless when I smoked. The fact that she even lets me smoke in the house is a huge concession! She treats me so well, and I had to go and burn her favorite dress..."
By the end of his speech, Justice's face was full of regret.
Gordon shot him a look. "Can you not embarrass yourself like this, brother-in-law?"
"Embarrass myself?" Justice looked baffled. "How am I embarrassing myself?"
Gordon responded with obvious disdain, "A grown man scared of his wife—how is that not embarrassing?"
Justice burst out laughing. "What's so embarrassing about loving your wife? Do you have any idea why my career has been so successful? It's because your sister keeps me in line and supports me from behind the scenes!"
Justice and Alaina had fallen in love on their own terms.
Back in college, Alaina had been the most sought-after girl at Argent University. Justice had been just another face in the crowd, hardly the best catch. But Alaina never cared about status or money—she chose him, without hesitation.
After they got married, she respected and loved him deeply. Sure, she had a bit of a temper now and then, but Justice adored every bit of it.
So, even after years of marriage, their relationship was as close as ever.
Strict? Maybe. But Justice looked pretty happy being "managed" by his wife.
