Jason pulled Corinne next to him. It pained him to see a red handprint mark where Sophia had gripped her.
"Tsk, tsk. I know you two are excited to see each other again, but you shouldn't have hurt Corinne like that, Sophia!" said Jason with a smile.
It was obvious Jason was trying to get into Corinne's good graces by protecting her. However, it just made her dislike him even more.
Sophia remained upbeat. She glanced at how close they were standing to each other and said, "Sorry, Mister Jason. I was so happy to see Corinne that I didn't realize I was holding on to her so tightly. I'm really sorry for hurting your girlfriend."
Jason was, of course, happy to have people think Corinne was his girlfriend.
"That's alright. I know you girls like to have body contact when talking to each other. I was hoping to treat you to dinner since we haven't seen each other for so long, but your husband seems like he's in a hurry to go to the next destination. Another day, perhaps," he said as if he really was Corinne's boyfriend.
Sophia could not wait to get out of there, so she quickly said, "Yes. Another day it is. I'll leave you two love birds alone then. Bye."
She waved goodbye to them and strode toward Jeremy.
Corinne frowned and shouted, "Wait! You can't leave yet! Stop!"
Jason grabbed her arm. "Corinne, their schedule is quite packed, so we shouldn't bother their happy little family. Be a good girl, and listen to me."
"Let me go!" roared Corinne. "I need to ask him why…"
Sophia quickened her pace when she heard Corinne's shouts. After explaining to Jeremy, she quickly wheeled him into the RV with Benjamin following behind them, and they quickly drove away.
Jason could not wrap his head around how calm she was. "You haven't seen Jeremy for three years, and you're going to let him go just like that?"
"Weren't you the one who asked me to calm down just now? So why do you think it's weird that I've finally calmed down?" she retorted as she walked toward the company car as cool as ever.
Jason frowned and walked with her. "I did tell you to calm down, but the speed of it is kinda unnerving. I thought you'd…"
"You thought I'd cry?" asked Corinne sarcastically.
Jason nodded. "After all, you've been waiting for him to come back all these years, yet it took you no time to accept the fact that he's with another woman now!"
"You know I've been waiting for him, yet you didn't clear up the misunderstanding when Sophia called you my boyfriend? Not to mention, you also stopped me from chasing after him."
