The Daring Billionaire’s Wife (Vanessa and Dominic) novel Chapter 124

Dominic

Not even when I was with Carmella did I ever have to deal with someone telling me how to organize stuff in my own bedroom. That was because I felt no one had the right to tell me what to do, until now. The last thing I want is for Vanessa to be uncomfortable in my bedroom and if it means having to make adjustments for her, I'm willing to give it a try just so I can have her close to me.

This new experience, along with all the advice from my father-in-law is something I won't take lightly.

Just as I get ready to leave, Vanessa grunts and touches the side of her stomach and it sends me in a state of panic as I rush to her.

"What's wrong?" I ask, looking at her hunched over.

She straightens up with a sigh of relief and says, "I'm fine."

"That didn't look like it was the case."

"It was nothing. It's gone now," she assures me.

"Is everything okay with the baby?"

"Everything's fine."

Despite her reassurance, I shake my head and say, "Maybe I shouldn't go to work."

"Hey, I'll be fine."

"No. I don't think so."

"Hey," she chuckles. "I'm fine. Don't worry. I'll always tell you if something is really wrong."

I sigh with relief. "Promise me."

"I promise."

"Good. In case of anything, call me as soon as possible."

"Of course."

She smiles and this is the most I've seen her smile ever since the news about her father. Does she find amusement in seeing me like this?

After I finally calm down, I leave for the meeting and on my way, I scroll through my phone, looking at the apartment that once belonged to Carmella. I've already taken it away from her, just as I said I would and it's been two days since I did it. I still don't know what to do with it.

Frank and I attend a meeting together which has to do with one of our personal joint projects and as usual, it's a success.

After heading out of the boardroom and coming to the elevator, I notice the way he keeps shaking his head at me. I try to ignore it at first but it's more than I can take, so I raise my eyebrows at him.

"What's up with you?" I ask.

"I'm the one who should be asking you that question," he says. "During the meeting, you were glancing at your phone under the table so much that I thought you weren't interested in the meeting."

"Was that obvious?"

"Yup!"

"I've just been checking up on Vanessa."

"You always do that, but today seems different."

"That's because she gave me a little scare. I was just making sure she's alright."

"You really don't want anything getting in the way."

"No. I don't."

Giving me her side profile, she squeezes out some lotion from the bottle, puts it down on the dressing mirror, then begins applying it on her leg after placing it on the chair. My gaze is naturally drawn to her inner thighs in the hopes of seeing her pussy, but the angle makes it impossible to see anything more and that only leaves me a little frustrated.

She casually talks to me about my mother without looking at me but I can barely hear what she says as I'm so distracted by the sight of her figure. The deepest part of her waist, the perfect curve of her ass, it's all on display and I just want to look away but I can't.

Realizing that my bulge is getting bigger in my black pants, I get up and face the other side.

"I have to speak to Frank."

"Sure," she says.

I walk out and close the door, looking down at my cock which gets even harder. Taking a deep breath, I call Frank while trying to get my breathing under control.

"Dude, why did you hang up?" he asks.

"Relax. I was looking at something that required my attention." I lick the side of my lip.

"Does that mean you've just found out?"

"What are you talking about?" I tilt my head.

"Aren't you talking about the article?"

"What article?"

"I'm guessing that by how clueless you still sound, you haven't seen it. I'm sending you the link right now and dude, you won't like what you're about to read! It's bad!"

"Just tell me what it's about."

He hangs up on me, then immediately sends me a link. I click on it and it leads me to one of the most popular entertainment news sites in the world, the headline of the article making my heart race with intense panic. Shit!
