Chapter 680
William snapped a few photos of them, and Skyler quickly tugged him away.
“William, don’t be too nice to... strange girls in case she... turns into a clinger and sticks to us. That would be a drag,” Skyler warned.
Making a goofy face, William replied, “Skyler, even though she’s Aunt Tanya's assistant, she seems sweet. She doesn't look like a bad girl."
Skyler stomped his foot. “I don’t like playing with girls"
William's eyes twinkled as he blinked. “Skyler, girls can be sweet, too. My mom is a girl, you know.
Skyler pouted. “Aurelia is an angel who came down from heaven, not any regular girls"
William crossed his arms and sighed like a grown-up.
“I want to introduce you to my friend Nellie. She's smart and cute, a star in the making."
Skyler put his hands on his hips and looked down at him sternly. “When you grow up, are you gonna... start dating girls and not hang out with me?"
William tiptoed and patted his shoulder. “Relax, Skyler. I'll never choose chicks over bros. You'll always be my number one"
That brought a big smile to Skyler. “Skyler and William are gonna be best buddies for life"
Just then, Sierra ran over. "Can I be friends with you guys, too?"
“No way,’ Skyler said, shaking his head like a bobblehead. “There can only be one best friend"
Sierra's eyes dropped, her long lashes casting shadows on her pale lids.
“Sorry to bother you."
William was always a charmer and knew how to be kind.
And there was a special rice pudding for Tanya.
“Let's dig in.” Skyler said, serving a lamb leg to William and taking one for himself.
Tanya playfully told him off, "Do you like Elysium only because you can indulge yourself without anyone to reign you in?"
Skyler shrank a bit. With Tanya around, he knew he could not have fun.
“Anyway, I like... like Elysium. William said I can stay... stay here forever and don't have to return to Eastwood Heights."
Tanya frowned slightly. “Leopold is busy. He can't take you out every week, and you can't loaf around. You should do something meaningful, right?"
Leopold spoke firmly, “Skyler takes care of plants at home, and that's meaningful. His flowers bloom better than anyone's. Each one of those precious species is worth a fortune. Aunt Tanya, Skyler is an adult with the right to choose his life. To live content with little is to possess much."
“Right,” Skyler nodded eagerly. Only the people here acknowledged and praised him. Back in Eastwood Heights, everyone treated him like a fool.
