At that moment, Leopold exited the hotel and stepped onto the sunlit plaza.

Megan's face twisted as if stung by a wasp, her lips nearly splitting in her distress.

Leopold snorted, "Heart and soul? Huh, I don’t think so. You'd best remember on which side your bread is buttered. Misplace your trust or pick the wrong side, and you'll meet a bitter end. Megan bit her lower lip, waves of despair crashing within her.
