Aurelia sighed. 

How could he put this literally? 

“I just used a slightly exaggerated statement. If I were a frivolous kind of woman, wouldn’t I have got a boyfriend a long time ago?” 

Leopold popped a slice of orange into his mouth. 

Had Arnold not disappeared, her single life would probably have come to an end, wouldn’t it? 

Thinking about this, a flame of unnameable anger sparked in his heart, turning the orange sour in his mouth. Aurelia didn’t notice his mood change, her attention was fully consumed by the television. 

When the clock struck ten, the show started streaming on the app, and she hurriedly pulled out her phone to 

read the live comments. 

“Wow, everyone’s praising how handsome our Avery is. He’s sweet and handsome, charming and desirable,, domineering yet distant, gentle but unpredictable. He’s totally a ticking bomb.” 

Leopold leaned on the couch, his slender fingers supporting his forehead, silently watching her frenziedly 

read comments. 

He had to admit, Avery was extremely versatile, with no limitations when it came to acting. 

Otherwise, Serenity Films wouldn’t have been promoting him so heavily. 

Half an hour later, his brows furrowed tighter. 

She had managed to completely ignore his presence for this long! 

A spark ignited at the bottom of his eyes, and he snatched her phone away. 

“It’s time for you to sleep, no more staying up late.” 

Wait a minute.” Aurelia was in the heat of excitement, she tried to snatch back her phone but was picked up by him and carried off to the bedroom. 

He was so forceful, leaving no room for negotiation! 

If he were to be an actor, he could only play one type of role, the role of a harsh king.

Lying in bed, she was nowhere near sleepy. Thinking about the company’s team–building event, she casually asked, “Are you going to attend the team building event this weekend?” 

“Do I look like I have that much free time?” He cast her a cold glance. 

“No, you’re a big boss, you’re never idle.” 

Sensing his mood, she closed her mouth and her eyes, unwilling to provoke him any further. 

Then Leopold’s voice came from the side, “Are you going?” 

“Yeah.” She nodded, “I love team–building events.” 

Leopold reached over, resting his hand on her protruding belly, “You should stay at home now.” 

She pouted, “Moderate exercise is good for natural birth. Some pregnant women even climb stairs for 

exercise. I don’t want to have a c–section.” 

Then, she changed her tone, “But don’t worry, I won’t participate in the activities. I’ll just cheer on my colleagues from the side.” 

Leopold fell silent, gently rubbing her belly. His gaze landed on her luscious red lips. 

This little mouth, rarely ever saying anything he found agreeable, always gave him the urge to ‘punish‘ her whenever she spoke. 

He swallowed, drank a glass of water, then picked up a parenting book from the bedside table, preparing to read a story to their unborn children. 

Aurelia glanced at him and whispered, “The past few days when you weren’t here, they stayed up really late, moving around in my stomach.” 

Leopold’s deep, icy eyes glowed in the light, a sharp chill emanating from them, “That’s probably because you stayed up late too?” 

“I went to bed. I usually sleep around ten and sleep soundly, but they kept kicking me awake.” She explained seriously. 

But it didn’t sit well with Leopold. He’d had trouble sleeping these past days, the days felt too long, and the nights even longer. All of it was incredibly boring. 

Frowning slightly, he pinched her rosy cheek, “You’ve stayed up way past your bedtime today. Close your eyes and sleep now. Don’t disturb the baby’s rest.” 

“Okay.” She stuck out her tongue, obediently closing her eyes. 

Before long, Leopold’s low voice drifted to her ears. 

Although he was usually cold when he spoke, when he read stories to their children, his voice was incredibly gentle, like a soft evening breeze that made her ears feel comfortable. 

Truth be told, she hadn’t been sleeping well these past days. She used to fall asleep listening to his bedtime 

stories. 

When he wasn’t there, it was too quiet, too empty.
