The Bond Between Us ( Anastasia and Herman) novel Chapter 1105

Being tailed halfway there left Anastasia uneasy, but there was no time to dwell—she had to bail Monica out, fast.

Monica had already fired off a stream of texts. Her blind date refused to take “no” for an answer and was trying to drag her off to a movie.

Anastasia rushed to the café where they’d agreed to meet. Through the window, she spotted Monica, cornered by her stubborn date. Without missing a beat, she strode inside.

As she approached, she overheard the guy say, “A woman’s place is at home, taking care of her husband and kids. Earning money? That’s for men. After we’re married, just hand over your beauty salon to me. No need for a woman to be out in public, right? Where’s my pride supposed to go? All you have to do is enjoy the good life at home.”

Anastasia almost laughed out loud in disbelief.

Where do people even dig up gems like this?

She walked up, voice laced with sarcasm. “So, a woman earning money is a blow to your ego? The relationship hasn’t even started, and you’re already thinking about her assets. That’s some plan—you can hear your calculations from down the block.”

Monica looked ready to flip the table, but seeing Anastasia, she managed to keep her cool.

“Who are you?” The guy glared, his embarrassment morphing into anger.

“Ana, you’re here!” Monica stood up, linking arms with Anastasia.

“Traffic was a nightmare,” Anastasia muttered, then leaned in, “Where’d you even find this clown?”

Monica sighed. “My mom’s neighbor’s cousin’s uncle’s…something.”

Anastasia raised a hand. “Say no more.”

Basically, the connection was so distant it barely counted.

They started whispering to each other, completely ignoring the guy, who was left to stew in his own awkwardness.

“Monica, is this your friend?” he finally piped up, desperate not to be left out. “Hi, I’m Tony. Think there’s been a misunderstanding. I just don’t want Monica working herself to death after marriage. I own three factories—why would I care about her assets?”

He was average height, average looks, with slicked-back hair and squinty eyes—the kind of guy who looked like he’d nickel-and-dime you, then hit on your sister.

Anastasia had zero interest in entertaining him. Now that she’d arrived, Monica had her perfect excuse. “Mr. Tang, my friend needs me. I’m heading out.”

“Oh? Let me give you both a ride—I’ve got my car out front…” Tony’s eyes brightened the second he noticed Anastasia, completely forgetting he was there for Monica.

Anastasia’s smile was pure politeness. “Thanks, but I drove myself. Sorry, we’ll be going now.”

She grabbed Monica’s hand and made for the door. Tony scrambled after them. “It’s not safe for two young women to drive alone. Let me be a gentleman. My car’s brand new—cost two million, paid in cash. Bet you’ve never sat in something so fancy—real leather seats…”
