I let the ball glide out of my hands and roll down the lane.
I opened eyes as my ball struck right in the center pin and I landed a strike.
"Wooohoo!! Yeahhhh baby!! Nice job beautiful!" Dom smiled as he wrapped me in a huge hug.
My body froze.
His arms wrapped around me made my stomach quesey. They weren't the arms and hands I wanted to get tangled up in.
"I'm glad I picked you as a partner! I know we'll make a great team!" He said with his arms still gripping my waist.
"Yeah, good luck." I said with as much sweetness I could muster.
Dom turned on his heels and went gracefully running down the lane, coming to a halt right in front of the lane, while letting the ball fly down towards the pins.
Another strike.
He came running back to hug me again.
Ugh. I was going to be sick
The game went by in a blur.
All the boys were competing with each other, and the only way I was keeping up with them was by picturing a tanned face with a chiseled jaw bone and dark black scruff scattering his cheeks, and a straight nose underneath glowing blue orbs that have plagued both my conscious and subconscious for years.
We played 4 games and by the end I was exausted and just wanted to go home.
"Wow guys, 3/4 games!!! Are you both on steroids?" Mia asked.
"Nahh, we just make a great team!" Exclaimed Dom with that award winning smile again. It would make most girls weak at the knees, but it made me want to hurl. He was a fake bástard.
"Right Krystal?" He asked pulling me from my rude thoughts of him.
"Oh yeah. mhmm!" I mumbled trying to sound excited about winning a game I couldn't have cared less about.
I was still in a daze as I walked over to put my ball back on the rack and exchange these ugly uncomfortable shoes for my well worn comfy combat boots.
"Sooo, you wanna grab a bite to eat?" He paused. "Just the two of us. We can celebrate our win! Please?" Dom pleaded.
I had my back turned to him so I rolled my eyes.
Belle was looking right at me and caught me in the act.
She walked away towards her "date" laughing.
"Um... I don't know Dom I'm really tired." I tried to explain.
"Come on. I won't take no for an answer. Just a slice of pizza." He replied while swinging his arms over my shoulder.
"Alright, I do love Pizza." I replied. I was kind of hungry, since I basically skipped breakfast. And hopefully I'd get a free slice out of this torture, of being in such close proximity with the biggest player in Trenton, NY. Maybe the biggest player in all of New York.
"Hey dream girl. You ready for some Pizza?" He smiled seductively.
"Yes." I smirked back.
Well, since I was probably just the last girl in town he hasn't been with, and since I was probably nothing more than a fun chase, I figured two can play at that game.
We arrived at the restaurant, which was a little Italian joint that served the best Pizza and rigatoni bolognese within a 100 mile radius. It was also owned by Mia's family.
Usually the 3 of us would come here after school and grab some slices while doing our homework or studying, or gossiping at one of the back tables.
I waved a hello to her parents as we were seated near the back in a small out clove.
I decided I'd sit next to him, instead of accross; maybe he needed a little tempting, and then rejection.
Maybe I was a little evil.
But for all those years he treated me like garbage, I don't think a little payback will hurt.
He started at me wide eyed.
"Wow, Krystal. Your sitting next to me!? How flirty of you!" He said while leaning close.
I smiled flirtiously back at him, while also pulling myself further away from him.
The waiter came to our table and Dom ordered a pizza for us to share along with garlic knots and sodas.
