" I'm about to throw up?"

" Are you serious we're right outside her office and you choose now to tell me" another voice replies.

" It didn't seem that bad when I was at my desk"

" it's just Selene, she won't bite your head off just go" I heard a bang against my office door.

Do these idiots know that I can hear them clearly? This is ridiculous. I haven't Stepped out of my office all day.

I've been trying to get my dad's birthday sorted out and that meant helping with organizing the celebration and also fully completing the gift for him.

It definitely wasnt an easy process.

Jake seemed on board with this whole idea of creating a unique sports collection with the centerpiece being a sports jacket. The one that I would be giving my dad would the only of its design made for him.

" Hey Selene, so pretty much everything is on track," My intern said finally walking inside.

Molly stood next to him a much more relaxed look compared to Toby my intern. He was good, more than good but he was a nervous wreck. On a good day I would find it adorable but when on a bad mood that's irritating.

"But," I said waiting for the bad news.

" The jacket isn't here yet, but it's on its way" he quickly added.

I sighed. What did I expect I was rushing this whole sequence of events and I would be crazy if I thought this was going to be finished in time for the birthday tomorrow.

I haven't even had the time to see Nick in the last few days. He has called me a few times but the conversation never lasted long enough before he was dragged away.

I think hes in Bristol.

"Where is it?" I asked Toby. He pulled out his phone doing something on it.

I originally was going to do it here in the company and use all the resources we had here but i needed it to be perfect so I sent it to wales to get it done.

There was a top manufacturer there who could perform miracles and I trusted that.

"It's currently in reading" he informed me.

Well, great that means it wasn't going to get here until late tonight or by the morning. Luckily his celebration was in the evening. That gave me some time but not very much.

" Alright, Toby lets not wet our pants now. Keep an eye on it and bring it to me when it arrives alright" He eagerly nodded his head and walked out of my office.

Molly stayed behind " Are you planning on getting any sleep Selene, we know you slept here last night"

I ignored her and continued to scroll down my computer screen. I didn't have time to go home and come back there was so much to do. Jake even wanted me to go to this event in 2 days which stressed me out because I needed to say something.

" Don't even bother Molly, I've got this" Jake suddenly came walking inside holding a white paper bag and a coffee in his other hand. He laid them out on my desk and started removing his suit jacket.

He got comfortable pretty quickly.

" She can never stop once she's started, better understand that now," He told her. Molly shook her head as she exited my office.

Jake had brought me Asian food. Malaysian chicken wings and Seafood stir fry. The cleaners are going to hate me for this but it is what gets me through the night.

" How did the meeting go, can we get the agency to take our case," asked him. His job was to try and get this new collection everwhere. I wanted this to attract athletes too so we needed a bigger budget.

He leaned back popping a spring roll into his mouth.

" of course, they could never say no to me." he simply answered without even blinking an eye.

I stared at him. " Jake you were in there for three hours," I said without even thinking about it. It definitely wasn't as simple as them saying yes.

"Well yeah about that, the Ceo wants the collection as soon as it comes out, and I promised him"

The chicken wing fell out of my mouth. Shouldn't this be a joint decision you know with the designer of the collection?

" So that's why you haven't sent me home because you need me to work extra time for him" Jake grinned over at me.

" that's right Selly, you're a clever one did you know that"

Of course, I know that.

"TOBY!!!" I shouted. Jake jumped, hitting his knee on the table and spilling the coffee.

"A little warning next time" he complained seeing the hot brown coffee spilling down his leg and finally spilling onto the hard floor.

Toby came running inside. Sometimes I feel bad for treating him the way I do but it's all about learning right, he will thank me later on. Probably just before he quits and walks out.

"There are grammar mistakes on the collection page, make sure this doesn't go live before they're changed" Toby's eyes widen before rushing over to look.

" I''ll do it right now, I'm so sorry it wont happen again" Toby replied clearly panicking that something wasnt right. The thing ive learnt about Toby is that he's a control freak and wants everything to be perfect.

I grabbed his hand before he could run off. " no, you take this and you tell the writers and then you go home you've done enough today"

"But, its my job" i shook my head. "I'm pretty sure its your job to follow my orders" i told him.

I pointed towards the door.

Both me and Jake watched him leave the room, when he did we both smiled, knowing that we've all been there. He was just going through the motions.

" Are you coming tomorrow, dad told me to ask you and your family to join us i think he misses beating your dad in golf" i said as i grabbed my coat and bag ready to get out of here.

I was spending the night at my parents taking that quality family time.

" ofcourse, my dads already getting in as much practise but we both know its not worth it" Jake said laughing.

Both mine and Jake's fathers were very close, golf buddies and everything.

" can't blame him for trying can you" i laughed walking out to the lobby. Molly was waiting by the entrance for Jake. I really don't know what's going on with them but it looks good from here.

" Goodnight Selene" they both said before leaving in their car. When i walked out i found his leaning against the car.

" what took you so long, i need to pee" were his famous first words.

I grinned before running into the passenger side.

Ben started up the car and drove me to my parents place. My fingers instantly went for my phone going to my messages and scrolling for Nick.

No new texts.

" can you turn the heating down I'm sweating back here" i said to ben when i started to feel sick. There was roadworks on the main road which meant ben was taking the back roads.

" can't you open a window" he asked me.

I kicked the back of his chair. " ow, selly" he complained.

Jackass.

When we arrived at the house i grabbed my bag and headed inside. As soon as i walked it i rushed over to mom. She was curled up on the sofa holding her stomach as dad walked over with her pills.

" Oh mum, what happened" i bent down brushing her hair away from her face.

She turned her head when she heard me. " oh Selene baby youre here" her voice was weak.

"Ofcourse mom, i promised didnt i" i gently hugged dads side as he placed a blanket over mom. I was seriously greatful that he was here so mom wasn't alone.

" you dont need to be here, you should be with Nick" she said attempting to sit up. Dad pulled upa few pillows and supported her back.

I rolled my eyes. " i can't neglect the first man in my life on his big day mom you know that" i winked over at dad who grinned down at me.

"My girl" he commented.

" Hey mom you get some sleep, dont worry I'll take care of dad" i kissd her on the cheek. Dad did one better and kissed her on the lips.

Me and dad decided to watch some telly quietely as mom tried to get some rest.

" you didn't spend too much on me right" i turned to dad for the first time since we sat down.

I placed my phone face own on the table. " No, nothing more than you deserve" which was true, technically i didnt spent that much on him.

" Selly, i don't need materialistic gifts" he moaned to me but he knew that he had better just take it.

I've always liked treating people and he deserves more.

" its nothing like that dad, look i promise its worth it and plus it doesnt compare to what moms got you" from the crner of my eye i saw mums lips turn up.

I took the call in my old room. Just Toby letting me know the jacket arrived.

After the call I poked my head back inside their room.

" After breakfast get ready and meet me here at this address" before he could even respond I ran out of the room and left the house.

Ben was already waiting for me.

Later on I was addressing the guests before my parents were due to to arrive.

"Thank you all for coming, my parents should be any minute now so just stay here and try not to make a sound. Side note all you guys look fresh in your jackets" I added to which they laughed.

Toby knocked it out of the park and managed to sort out the first jacket in the collection to give to a few of the guests.

Let's just say Toby is the best fucking intern I've ever had.

When the door opened I spotted mom first, she winked at me as she led dad inside.

"surpriiiiise" we all shouted. Dad gasped at all of us clearly he didn't expect this at all which meant i did my job well.

" what the hell, guys you're in england?" Dad rushed over to his old mates before he went overseas.

I was scared that they wouldn't be able to attend but they really made sure they could and even helped me out in finding others.

" woah guys, these jackets" Dad whistled checking out the threads.

Toby rushed in with dads jacket.

I winked at him " go home, take the weekend off"

He eagerly nodded and rushed out.

"Here dad, happy birthday" I held out the jacket. It was a blue, purple and white bomber jacket with his name on the back.

The design was beautiful everything I dreamt of when designing it.

" oh princess, this is insane" he said taking it from me. He wrapped his arm around me pulling into his chest.

" I love you dad" I whispered.

Dad eagerly put on the jacket testing it out.

"Here dad try a few swings" I picked up the brand new racket I bought him.

I thought the jacket was something but the way dads eyes lit up seeing the racket. I knew I did well.

" c'mon then guys 20 quid from all of you theres a tear" dads mate said holding his and out.

Most of the guys shook their heads but handed over the money.

" you bastards" dad mutters.

He turned to me and I shrugged, like he wouldn't have done the same.

I stepped back to give him some space. Mom was already over at the bar with the wives leaving me alone.

I saw Jack walk over to me.

" is he here?" I asked him as I searched the crowd for Nick.

He promised he'd be here.

" No, and I don't think he's coming" he said his voice low and quiet like he didn't want people to over hear

I narrowed my eyes.

" okay I get it" i shoved my hand to his chest as he was about to show me his phone.

" I'm sure its not what it seems selly" he added placing his phone into his pocket.

For Nick's sake i really hope it isn't.
