The Billionaire Husband’s Betrayal novel Chapter 33

Chapter 20: Jordan’s POV

Hearing my phone ring and answering to hear Claire’s voice was the best thing that’s happened to me all day. I always jumped at the opportunity to spend with her. She was amazing and with her being pregnant, I wanted to make sure I was there for her in any way I could be. Even if it slowly reignited the flame that was my feelings for her.

I got to the cafe first and ordered what used to be Claire’s daily brew back in college except I made sure it was decaf so it doesn’t affect the baby and grabbed us a little table by the window. There was a reason for the table too. Claire’s dark hair always shined and flickered bits of reddish copper and it was beautiful.

I stand as Claire arrives and am embraced in a hug. Claire was always so kind and her touch could fix anything.

We talked for a moment and once she asked for a job recommendation, I knew I had to offer her one with my company. Claire’s ability to create a structural design and layout was something I’ve never seen and she was well–versed in our area of expertise. I would’ve been a fool to pass up the opportunity. I’d also get to spend time with here again and check in on her to make sure she’s alright. Especially with her being pregnant. I didn’t trust her husband. I admired him as a successful

business man and had hoped one day, I’d get a chance to work on a project with him as an associate but after seeing how he was oblivious about his wife and sprung jealousy before concern for Claire – I lost any and all interest in ever being associated or turning into a man anything like him.

I, somehow get caught in a fight with Leo. Glass flew, drinks spilled and punches flying in both directions. I didn’t want to hit him. I knew how much it would hurt Claire but he kept pushing me past my limit.

The owner ended up coming in between and I watched as the man who won the woman I loved – walked out without another word.

Hopefully I’d get the chance to explain myself to Claire.
