Rebel POV.
It was at the moment Maisie realised her mistake. She raised her gun and aimed it at me.
I just scoffed and burst into side splitting laughter. She looks at me in confusion. I step closer to her until the barrel of the gun is pressed against my chest.
“Go on, do it. If you don’t, you will die now for pulling that on me. I think all your colleagues here now know you are a rat. You are a disgrace to the badge. I will love nothing more than to take you to the void. I bet there are more just like you. So tell me, Agent Owens, who else is involved?” I say agent Owens, full of malice and sarcasm. She looks at me like she is looking at a psychopath. Which, given the circumstances, I am.
“I don’t know what you are talking about?” she says and I tut at her and shake my head.
“Now, now, don’t lie or play coy. I know who you are and I know where I have seen you before. Tell me, how long have you been an agent?” I ask not just her, but the room.
“She is new to the force. Four months, give or take.” My smile widens at that confirmation. So she wasn’t an agent when she was fucking Ricci and Smyth and doing whatever else.
“I see, well she won’t be missed then, will she?” I say, not taking my eyes from her when my phone rings and I take the phone out and see it’s Candy calling me.
“What do you have for me?” I say, placing the call on loudspeaker, while still watching Maisie when Candy speaks up, all businesslike.
“There was a RICO agent who has been to see Luna. The name is.”
“Maisie Owens.” I say, and everyone is watching and waiting for the confirmation from our head tech genius.
“How did you know?” Candy confirms, and I smile.
“Because I have her with me now. She was a whore for Ricci and Smyth. The night at the strip-club she was in the office when I entered with them.” I tell her and the room. I move the gun and place it on her forehead. She goes still. I’m not playing.
The rumble of bikes and tyres makes me smile. Maisie’s eyes go wide and she pales. She knows she is doomed.
“Thanks Candy for the confirmation. The crew is here now.”
“Wait, she was also at the institute last night. She was caught on CCTV sneaking about and she was also seen visiting another patient a few days ago.” She tells me.
“Who was the patient?” I say, not taking my eyes from her. Her hand is trembling.
“One that was in for arson and murder. Someone by the name Roland Williams.” Maisie closes her eyes at hearing the name.
“Who is Roland?” I ask her, and she shakes her head. I press the gun harder into her forehead and growl out the same question.
“He was my father.” She says with tears streaming down her face.
“Was an in past-tense. Is he dead?” I ask, not really caring.
“Yes.” she says and I step back, keeping my gun trained on her when my father, mother, Alessa, Dante, and Dylan step through the door.
“You sent your father to do this. You were here last night. You told him what to do. Why kill Luna?” I ask her because I will execute her in public. I don’t care, I’m too far gone to care. I’ll drag her out in front of the cameras and do it. I’m too far gone to fucking give a shit.
“She told me when she leaves here she was going to do what was right. She wanted to bring us all down and go into nursing. I couldn’t let her do that. This is bigger than you believe. I had to silence her. She left me no choice.” I lower the gun and shoot at her in the thigh. She screams and so do some of the agents.
“Wrong answer. Try again.” I say to her, not caring one bit.
“Rebel, don’t do this.” I ignore who is speaking and move the gun to the other leg and fire. She screams out again.
“Tick Tock Maisie. You are bleeding out.” I say to her as I crouch in front of her. I grab her face and lift her head and she laughs before she spits in my face. I smirk at her.
“Yes, ma’am.” They all stutter out.
“Good doing business with y’all. Bye.” I say as I turn and walk out of the mobile unit and down the steps to the waiting crowd. It is only the Police and FBI. The reporters have gone and so it’s just us.
“We move now. I want her before she catches wind of this.” I say, ignoring the FBI and police. They know they can’t do shit to us. So they stay quiet.
I move to my bike just as Dante and Dylan walk to me. They both look at me with awe and lust in their eyes. I look down and realise I’m still in my disguise. Fuck.
“What, oh, come on, you know what I do?” I say, looking at them both. They both blink and close their mouths.
“Of course we do. But damn baby, you look fucking edible.” Dylan says as he pulls me into his arms and kisses me, grinding his hardened length on me when Dante moves behind me and does the same while kissing my neck.
“Guys, we are in public. We need to go.” I say to them both and they groan. I chuckle, but right now is not the time to give into our carnal desires.
“Mexico?” Dylan asks and I nod my head and he sighs. “We have a chapter down there, so they will help. Hatchet had them everywhere.” He says, and I nod my head sadly. All this death because of this. All this betrayal, all for what? Power, greed, whatever it is, all this death is not worth it.
“No, I will do this. Only need a small crew. I need to get in and out without all the chaos. I don’t want to draw too much unnecessary attention.” I say when Dante chuckles.
“Are you just planning to roll up like it’s nothing?” he says and I turn my head to look at him.
“Of course, I am. After all, Nico is my uncle and I’m just visiting him.” I say with an innocent smile on my face while batting my eyelashes at him. They both chuckle.
“Rebel, let’s hustle. We are heading out.” My mom shouts and I see she is in work mode. She can be scary at times, and I nod my head at her.
“Come on.” I say as I press the implant on my wrist and my image changes again. I walk towards my bike and mount it. Next stop is Mexico. The home of the Cartel.
