The Apple of My Eye novel Chapter 1940

Ferry's lawyer also came to the police station.

After being asked several questions, Ferry realized that he wasn't going to get out of this one.

"What? What did you say?" Ferry glared at his lawyer in disbelief.

The lawyer looked awkward as he glanced at the policeman guarding Ferry. Then he responded in a low voice, "The police were able to arrest you because they have irrefutable evidence against you. This isn't under the Public Security Bureau of the city anymore. This is going to the provincial bureau. No one can protect you anymore. If you admit your guilt, you can probably get a better deal and save your life."

"You want me to confess?" Ferry gritted his teeth as he stared at his lawyer.

"Think about it. You killed someone. No matter how much money you have, you're still going to spend the rest of your life in prison." The lawyer had no choice but to lay down the truth for Ferry upon seeing that he was getting violent.

"Tell the police chief to come here." Ferry was already panicking. He leaned against his chair to relieve his anxiety.

"Don't even think about it. Even the police chief can't save himself right now. He'll never admit that you two were on good terms. Oh, and there's one more thing that you probably don't know yet..." The lawyer looked at Ferry hesitantly as his voice trailed off.

Ferry didn't know how things could get worse than they already were.

"Say it. Why don't you want to say it? You didn't seem so hesitant when you were getting my money!" Ferry bellowed.

The lawyer flushed in embarrassment. He coughed before speaking. "The news of your arrest is everywhere. It's in newspapers, magazines, online...Everywhere. You've been mobilizing a gang, and that makes you a target, a target to be destroyed. You can't hide..."

Ferry became desperate. He didn't know what to do anymore.

He knew he couldn't do anything about his situation now. However, he couldn't help but wonder who was behind all of this.

"Can I see Hunter?" Ferry didn't want to see his lawyer anymore as he was only being reminded of all the terrible things that were happening to him.

"All right. I'll tell him to come here." The lawyer was surprised that Ferry didn't give him a hard time. He knew Ferry well enough, and this Ferry wasn't the Ferry he had known. What had happened to him?

The lawyer then quickly left.

Hunter was waiting outside. When he saw the lawyer leave, he rushed over to him. "How's Ferry?"

"Come in. Mr. Fang wants to see you." The lawyer looked at Hunter casually.

Hunter assumed that Ferry was fine upon seeing the lawyer's expression. When he went in to see Ferry, he walked in with a smile on his face.

However, he also immediately noticed the look of despair on Ferry's face. It seemed as if things weren't looking so good for him.

"Boss, how are you?" Hunter asked in concern. He didn't want to say more for fear that he would say the wrong thing.

"I need you to find out who's behind all of this." Ferry was so angry that he pounded his fists on the table.

"What are you doing? We're watching you! Stop that!" a policeman reprimanded Ferry.

"Don't you know who I am? How dare you talk to me like that!" Ferry shouted at the police.

"Do you think you can intimidate me? I'm a police officer. Know your position. You're going to be staying here for a while..." the police said solemnly.

This only angered Ferry further.

"Ferry, you better thank your lucky stars that Sheryl's fine because if something happened to Sheryl, you'd be in a way worse situation than life imprisonment." Charles visited Ferry so he could threaten him. Even though Ferry was already locked up, Charles was still a bit worried.

Charles had destroyed Ferry's power overnight. However, he still wasn't sure if Ferry had backup. A man like Ferry was sure to have hideouts and backup everywhere.

Charles' eyes were stone cold.

Ferry wasn't able to get a word out. He just sat in his chair, trembling in anger.

Charles didn't say more. He just wanted Ferry to remember that he could either die in prison or spend the rest of his life here peacefully if he stayed out of trouble.

After leaving the prison, Charles told David to send someone to keep an eye on Ferry. He had to make sure that Ferry wouldn't do anything.

"Mr. Lu, don't worry. I'm on top of it. Everything's fine. Nothing's going to happen." David looked at Charles to assure him. He knew what his boss was worried about, so he did his best to appease him.

"All right. Let's go back to the office."

In Shining Company

What had happened to Ferry was just gossip to everyone else. However, to Leila, it was a huge blow.

Leila didn't expect that Ferry would be so stupid as to be defeated by Charles.

While no one else knew that it was Charles who was behind Ferry's downfall, Leila wasn't stupid. She had a pretty good guess and even had proof to back it up. The project that the company had lost to Ferry was back in their hands as if nothing had happened. Wasn't that enough proof?
