The Apple of My Eye novel Chapter 1478

"I don't know who he is! But later, Cassie told me that he is one of her colleagues' brother. Apparently, he likes her so he often comes by to visit," Isla retorted in annoyance. "I hate to judge but there's something about him that I don't find appealing. He looks like a refined rascal. I would have definitely broken his legs if Cassie didn't stop me."

Hearing Isla's angry tone, Sheryl burst into laughter. "You really have a temper! I wonder how Aron can stand it," she commented, shaking her head.

"He doesn't have a choice. He is my husband," Isla replied casually.

"It is the first time that I've heard of that man. Cassie never mentioned anything about him before," Sheryl analyzed slowly. "Do you think he caused the misunderstanding between Nick and Cassie?"

"Are you saying that Nick has broken up with Cassie? How could it be possible? No wonder Cassie sounded so different earlier. Maybe she and Nick are pretty much done." Isla nodded her head.

"Yes, it is true. They haven't talked to each other for quite some time now." Before Sheryl could continue, her phone suddenly started ringing.

"Hold on. Let me take this call first." Pulling out the phone from her bag, she checked and found Nick's name on the caller ID.

"Hello, Nick! Where are you now? Did anything bad happen yesterday? How are you?" Sheryl couldn't help to throw all those questions to Nick as soon as she picked up.

Sheryl sounded so worried that Nick felt guilty when he replied, "I'm okay. Don't worry about it. I just feel upset. Are you free today? I can come and meet you so we can talk."

"Sure. I'm at the hospital right now because Isla is sick." Sheryl took a glance at Isla, who was now gesturing at her. Sheryl immediately understood what she meant so she continued, "You can come here now because Isla also wants to talk to you."

"Isla is in the hospital? Is it serious?" Nick couldn't hide the worry in his voice.

"She had a stomachache earlier but she's fine now. Don't worry about her," Sheryl assured him.

"Okay then. Which hospital? I'll be on my way," Nick asked immediately.

"The hospital where Cassie is working at. See you then." Sheryl hung up before Nick could even reply.

She then walked towards Isla's bed and sat on the edge.

"You're indeed my good friend. You understood my gesture," Isla praised Sheryl.

Actually, she initially thought that Sheryl wouldn't understand her gesture. But it turned out that she did. What Sheryl said was right. Isla wanted Nick and Cassie to meet at the hospital to clear things out.

Sheryl rolled her eyes and laughed, "You bet. I can read you like a pro. Let me guess one more time. You will ask Cassie to come and meet Nick when he gets here, right?"

"I sure will. There's no another way to get them back together." Isla seemed pleased with her plan.

"Okay then. But I think we better ask Nick what was going on first before we ask Cassie to come. What do you think?"

"Okay. I'm fine with that."

They both agreed not tell Cassie about it yet. After all, she was a very timid woman. They had to figure out what was going on first before they planned further.

Meanwhile, Nick was left staring at his phone after Sheryl hung up.

"I believe Cassie is still in love with Nick. That man is not even her type."

"I think so too. So when Nick shows up, I will ask him first. If he still loves Cassie, we will continue to help and get them back together. If he doesn't, then we won't have to go in the middle of it."

"You're right. I completely agree with you." Isla nodded in agreement.

Outside the ward, Nick was startled because he didn't expect that these two had made a plan for him. He took a deep breath and immediately went inside.

"Hi, Sheryl and Isla," Nick greeted them casually.

When Isla saw Nick, her eyes lit up and she said, "Hey! Here you are! I miss you so much."

Nick blushed. Isla still said what she thought, without worrying that her husband might hear her. If he did, would he take Nick as an enemy? Nick was worried about that.

"Nick, Isla really cares about you. Why don't you come closer and let her take a good look at you?" Sheryl said with a broad smile.

Nick had no other choice. He walked closer to the bed, putting the fruit basket on the night table as he went.

"You don't really have to bring me anything, but thank you," Isla nagged.

Nick shyly stroke his hair. "I don't know what you like so I just bought some fruits. I hope you like them. How are you feeling?"
