chapter 1
Lilith Point of View
I nervously paced around the room, waiting for my result while James was focused on drinking his coffee. He would raise one of his perfectly arched eyebrows every few minutes and open his mouth to say something before closing it and shaking his head.
“If you keep up with your pacing, you would faint before your result would be released, Lilith.” James finally spoke while placing the white coffee mug down on the dark wood dining table.
“I still don’t get it, how are you so relaxed? It’s freaking Wulfric College, James; people barely get into it.” I said in astonishment.
“Language, young lady. And for your question, I don’t doubt your smartness. Believe it or not, you are extremely talented for a nineteen-year-old.” James expressed with a proud smile on his face.
His words brought a small smile to my face while my racing heart calmed down a bit. “I appreciate your words, James. However, why do you keep reminding me of my age? You know, I hate it when you use my age as a measure of my talent.” I spoke in distaste.
“Can you blame me? You are the only one I have met in my whole life, who is this talented even after being so young.” James remarked.
I sighed at his words before speaking, “True, I’m exceptionally talented when it comes to academics but I’m not the only one. Every student studying in Wulfric College is a genius.” I reminded him while taking a seat on the dark wood polished chair placed next to him.
The wooden chair made a scraping sound against the floor when I pulled it forward after settling on it, and I unintentionally scrunched up my face. “See, you got my point. They only take genius students and you are no less of a genius than the ones studying in it.” James spoke while I lightly shook my head.
Why does he need to be this sensible at times? Sure, I was a genius but getting anxious for ones’ results is the most humane thing. “Fine, I don’t want to talk about this anymore. So, when will I join if I get accepted?” I asked, trying to change the topic.
“You are their last candidate who is applying for an undergraduate program and you are fairly late. So, I think you will have more or less a week before joining college.” James informed me and I nodded.
“Calm down, Lilith. You would do amazing in college and for now, we need to celebrate. You have gotten accepted in your dream college.” James announced with a wide grin on his face.
I relaxed at his words and took in a deep breath before nodding my head with a full-blown smile on my face. “I want to eat at the famous Japanese restaurant. What about you? Also, I need to buy clothes for college. I have nothing to wear to college, thanks to the homeschooling I did for the past one year.” I muttered with sadness coating my words.
“Hey, Lilith, how many times do I have to tell you that homeschooling is not bad? You have learned a lot in this one year and we were also able to figure out that you are this smart. Now, be the charming girl I know and get ready for our little dinner celebration.” James paused and took a look on my laptop screen before continuing, “It’s 6 now and we leave at 8 pm. Don’t get late.” He said in his firm voice before walking to his room.
I dropped on the chair placed beside me and took a look at the laptop screen which was currently showing my result. A smile graced my lips when I read my name, Lilith Jezebeth on the admission letter in beautiful calligraphy. My eyes then focused on the date my college is supposed to begin.
As I took a look, my eyes widened on their own accord. I am supposed to start college on Monday and it's already Saturday today. How on earth am I going to get everything done in a day?
