The Alpha Train (Christina and Sebastian) novel Chapter 296

Chapter 97

“A murder?” Councilwoman Zara asks.

“That’s correct. A nurse Shane and I interviewed yesterday was murdered in her cell in the early morning hours,” he said.

“And how is it that someone was murdered on your watch, Alpha?” Councilman Felix asks, making my spine snap to attention.

“That is what we are trying to find out, Councilman,” Christian says calmly. “I was alerted at five o’clock this morning of Nancy’s murder and we’ve been investigating her death since that time.”

“Perhaps we should take this inside, so that we can have a more private conversation.” Councilman Johnathon says.

“Absolutely, if you’ll follow me,” he says.

“Actually, we’d like our investigative team to get started,” Councilwoman Charlotte says./

A moment later, Sebastiana and Alpha Christina step outside. I watch the council turn their attention to the two women.

“Alpha Sebastiana, how lovely to see you,” Councilwoman Zara says.

“You as well, Councilwoman,” she replies.

“And Alpha Christina, what an unexpected surprise,” Councilman Felix says with more warmth in his tone than he just used with Christian.

“My family is here visiting this weekend. As it turns out, Christian and

Alpha Shane asked Sebastian and I to look over some of the discrepancies in the finances. I’d be happy to discuss what we’ve found so far with your investigators,” she says.

The council looks at each other again, then turns to their investigators, nodding. Two of them break away and walk up to us.

“I’m Alpha Benjamin. Alpha James and I will do everything we can to find out who has done this so they can be brought to justice,” he says. I like him immediately.

“Thank you,” Shane and I say.

“Christian, good to see you. Congratulations. Number one on the leaderboard. Not that I’m surprised,” Alpha Benjamin says.

“Thank you, Alpha,” Christian says.

Alpha James steps up, also giving us his condolences. I don’t know why, but the big bear of a man just exudes comfort and security. For some reason, it makes tears spring to my eyes, and my lips begin to tremble.

Christian’s head snaps to me, but Alpha James beats him to it. He wraps his big arms around me.

“It’s okay, young Alpha. You’re going through a hard time. It would be a lot for anyone,” he says gently, rubbing my back and holding me while the unexpected tears begin to stream down my cheeks.
