The Alpha Train (Christina and Sebastian) novel Chapter 167

Chapter 167

Today, I’m up against Liam. He’s good, but I’m better.

Damn, Christina. I can see why your brother wants you to be his Lead Warrior. You’re amazing,” he says at the end of class.

“Thanks, Liam. You’re really good too,” I tell him.

He snorts. “Don’t start blowing sunshine at me, Christina. You’re the better fighter.”

I stop and look at him. “And you’ll get there. That’s why we’re here, right? To get better, stronger, and faster?”

He looks at me and blinks as if it’s just dawning on him that this is why we’re here. “You’re right.”

“Good, so next time, come at me harder,” I say as we walk inside.

He watches me a moment without following and I turn to look at him.

“Thanks,” he says.

“For what?

“Encouraging me. It’s not something I’ve had a lot of in my life,” he says seriously.

“Well, you’ve done pretty well without it, then. I can’t imagine what you’d be like if you had been encouraged.”

He looks past me. Maybe I’d be more like Ezra,he says

“Maybe you should be more like you, Liam. Just be a better version of yourself. You don’t need to be like Ezra or anyone else. Just be the best version of you that you can be. And if others don’t believe you can do it, prove them wrong.”

You make it sound so easy,” he says.

“Isn’t it? Being yourself should be easy and if you don’t know who you are Liam, you still have several weeks to figure it out. Honestly, you’re a lot different than the cocky little shit that walked onto the Train nearly a month ago. Look at how far you‘ ve come already. I like this Liam a lot better. I have respect for this version of you. I look forward to seeing what other ways you’re going to succeed. You have a lot of potential, Liam. That conversation you had with Logan was beyond anything I ever expected from you, but it was brilliant. And it seems to have worked. He’s getting his act together, or at least it seems like he is. You have what it takes to be a great Alpha, Liam. You just have to believe in yourself and give yourself the opportunity to become the great Alpha others see in you.”

“You think others see it too?” he asks. Three weeks ago, I would have thought the question was cocky, looking for positive affirmations about how great he is. But now, I can tell that he really doesn’t see his own potential.

“Right. And hey, if you do decide you want a Lead Warrior position and you don’t want it to be in your brother’s pack, let me know.

“It was worth a shot,” Liam says.

I say goodbye and head to the kitchen to make lunch. It’s strange. I’ve worked the Train for two years, but I’ve never created the bonds that I am creating this semester with this group of Alphas. Being a student, I’m getting to know all of them at a much deeper level than I have before.

I know that Dane keeps in touch with the Alphas he was in school with. I always assumed it was because they were Alphas and had become friends, but now I’m beginning to realize that it‘ s a much deeper bond than that. I can’t imagine leaving this semester and never seeing or talking to Tyler or Ezra again. I

want to know when they meet their mates, when they have pups, how they’re doing as Alphas. I would really miss having them in my life if we didn’t keep in touch after the Academy. My bonds aren’t as strong with Liam and Noah, but we still have nearly two months of school left.

I’m guessing that by the time this semester ends, I’ll struggle to say goodbye to all four of them.
