CHAPTER TEN

BRINLEY.

I excused myself, telling Julia I had to pee. What I needed was to splash some cold water on my warm cheeks. So I made my way through the hallway of the palace, following Julia's directions, of course. When I came to the door, Julia told me it would be the bathroom I walked in. I sighed with relief when it was indeed a bathroom. I walk over to the sink, wet my hands with cold water, and dab my cheeks. I still can't believe Thomas figured out it was me. And what was he even doing at The Kings Party? And the nerve of him always has a problem kissing me, touching me, but he doesn't seem to have a problem when it comes to looking.

The nerve of him even talking to me after four days of not showing up to the pond, leaving me there waiting. Of course, he was probably laughing behind my back.

'Don't get too worked up,' Sage told me. I pursed my lips, 'You heard what he said, right?' Sage grins, 'Of course. But your no better,' Sage shakes her head. 'For instance?' I replied. 'You were hot and bothered, eyeing him in that suit,' I Hid my face, and Sage burst into laughter. I roll my eyes, 'I got to get back out there. Bye, Sage.' She was too busy laughing at me even to respond.

I walked out of the bathroom and ran into someone.

Great Brinley.

"I'm sorry," I mutter leaning down to pick up the purse she dropped. I noticed the dark green dress. Crap, it's Amanda. Luck is not on my side tonight. I come back up and hand her back the bag. "Thanks. Hey, do you know a girl named Brinley?" I shook my head. Her face falls disappointed. "Thanks for picking up my purse," She said, walking into the bathroom. I felt guilt knots in my stomach for lying to her, but she accepted the person I hated. How could I forgive her? I'm not a friend to walk all over. I have feelings too. I sigh, looking at the door before heading back to the party.

Julia hands me a tray, and I mutter a thank you. Julia and I walk into the party together, but Julia goes to the left, leaving me to serve the right side. I turned toward the crowd, and my eyes widened. Gabriel.

He glanced over at my tray and waved me over. My legs felt heavy as I made my way toward him. Gabriel grabs a glass of wine, "Thank you," I nod and walk away. I felt Gabriel's eyes bore into the back of my head as I was walking away; I shifted uncomfortably.

As I was taking empty glasses of wine off the table, a hand-rubbed across my ass, and I jolted. My grip on the wine glass tightened as I faced no one other than Gabriel. "How about we find a more private place to be alone." I heard a breaking sound, and my hand stung with pain, but I kept my gaze locked with Gabriels. He raises his brow, "Better clean that up." He muttered and walked away. Anger boiled inside me because Gabriel had put his filthy hands on me. I wanted to shift and sink my teeth into his throat. But I couldn't do that. Grabbing my rag used for spills, I wiped the blood that leaked on the floor, grabbed my tray, and went back into the kitchen.

"Hold still. I need to get the glass out of your hand," Julia exclaims. I cringed as he grabbed the glass with tweezers and pulled it from my palm. "Try to avoid Gabriel," She tells me. "I doubt that will be easy. He touched my ass in a room full of people." Julia shakes her head. "What a pig." I nod in agreement. Julia wraps my hand with a bandage so the tray full of liquor won't rub the slice in my hand. "I'll take the wine this time. You take the whiskey shots." I nod and grab the tray—my palm burns from the cut.

Fuck.

Kyle couldn't sell me to Gabriel. He has already sold me.

"But I'm sold already," I remind him. He snorts, "Yeah, but I'm being offered a significant amount of money for you," "Please don't sell me to Gabriel," I whispered. Kyle frowns. "I would never sell you back to that place. Katie told me how they made you live. But another guest wants you badly." "Who?"

"Mark Mortaga." He says. I purse my lips, "How can you sell me to him? When you already sold me?" Kyle shakes his head, "The King of the DeLuca kingdom was doing me a favor. I can call and tell him Mark Mortaga wants you, and he'd be okay with it." "Why doe's this Mark Mortaga want me for?" Kyle stands and puts his hands on my shoulder.

"It's not my place to ask a question like that. But I have a pretty good idea, though," He says. "You mean.." "Yes," Kyle says, cutting me off.
