Four felt her cheeks burn as embarrassment flooded her veins.
If there had been a hole nearby, she would’ve dived into it instantly.
She cursed herself silently—had she known Alex would hold such a fierce grudge, she never would have mocked him.
Nearby, Hugh groaned, slowly regaining consciousness.
He pushed himself upright, confusion etched across his face.
"Must've tripped over my own damn feet," he muttered.
Alex stared at him, eyes narrowed in disbelief.
Did this fool really not realize what had happened to him—the danger he was in? Or was his arrogance so thick it had blinded him?
Seeing Alex's silence, Hugh’s lips twisted into a smug grin.
“What’s the matter, kid? Cat got your tongue now that you’ve seen what real level-fifty power looks like? You’d better be shaking in your boots, boy!”
“You’re nothing compared to me—like a bug under my boot.”
“I’ll toss you one measly chance: grovel at my feet and smash your skull against the floor. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll grace you with my pity.”
Alex shook his head slowly, pity mixed with disdain on his face.
“So what if you're level fifty? A superhuman with some fancy inner energy? You think you’re special, tough guy?”
“Hate to break it to you, but you can be killed just as easy as any man. Wake up and face reality, idiot.”
Hugh scoffed loudly, mocking laughter echoing across the space.
“Kill me? Boy, you really don’t understand, do you? People like me appear once in a million—superhumans who break level fifty.”
“I'm not just some nobody; I'm ranked top in the entire country! You think you can handle me?”
Hugh raised his hand, the air trembling around him.
“Feel this!” he bellowed, unleashing a powerful blast of energy that roared toward Alex like an unstoppable storm.
Alex stood rooted, indifferent and unmoving.
The fierce wave crashed against him, and yet he remained untouched, unfazed by Hugh’s desperate show of force.
Hugh's eyes widened, confusion flickering across his arrogant face.
He glanced down at his hand, doubt creeping into his mind. "Did I mess that up somehow?"
Alex, annoyed by the tiresome drama, strode toward Hugh, his face a mask of boredom.
“Fine! You asked for it!” Hugh roared as Alex advanced. He gathered his strength and unleashed an even more powerful wave of inner energy, aiming it straight at his enemy.
The violent power surge radiated outward, forcing Four and her team to stumble backward, gasping for air.
Fear gripped them, their hearts racing.
"Is this what a real superhuman is? Terrifying," someone whispered anxiously from the team.
Alex merely curled his lip, unimpressed. "Pathetic," he spat.
With lightning-fast precision, Alex swung his hand, landing a devastating slap on Hugh’s arrogant face.
The blow echoed sharply, throwing Hugh off his feet and sending him spiraling helplessly through the air before crashing headfirst onto the hard ground.
Silence filled the air. Shocked faces stared, mouths agape.
No one moved, no one breathed—until finally, someone managed a disbelieving shout:
