The Accountant novel Chapter 13

"You look like shit." He turned his head so fast he wouldn't be surprised if he had whiplash.

What the...Tired eyes focused on the small diminutive figure standing a bit too cocky before him.

The petite debutante entered the temporary master suite without knocking. Well, she looked more like an 8th grader than an 18-year-old college freshman with her tight ponytail, long-sleeved shirt, and cut off Levis and a worn pair of converse. Her favorite ensemble.

Years of practice kept Dominic's expression bland, used to his sister's outrageous personality. He raised his stormy grays to her delicate beauty, blue-violet eyes flashing with concern met his and she flipped her palest of blond hair. "I am fairly sure that we are not running out of money, sis."

"Pft...I'm sure too. Nevertheless, I wouldn't change the way I dress. I repeat brother, you look like shit." She answered smartly without any hint of hesitation. Bossy minx.

"And your French accent grates on my nerves." Dominic rubbed his face impatiently. There was more than a week's worth of stubble grazing his palms. "What are you doing here, Dinara? And where's mom and dad?" He asked. Impatience and irritation laced his rough voice.

"At the foyer with your new butler and housekeeper. Be thankful I was the first one in. Well, you know mom." She shrugged her eyes on the bed.

Yeah. Thanked fuck for small mercies.

His little sister slowly stalked to the king-size bed where his Beau remained immobile in her comatose state.

Machines beeped in the stillness of the room. It has been ten days. He barely left the room. He has prayed to all the gods and devils known to men. Beau remained completely still, asleep.

What kept him sane was knowing every time he talked to her or touched her, her heart would skip a bit. His detka was subconsciously aware it was him.

All his work was forwarded to his makeshift office and Alec was sent to hunt the assassin and the remaining traitors.

"She is so beautiful. Can I braid her hair?" He grunted in annoyance, momentarily distracted from his detka, he focused once more at Dinara's pleading huge eyes. To add more effect, she batted her eyelashes.

"What are you, 8?" His hard gaze softened when she flashed him her white teeth. Shit! He hoped he will only have boys.

"Come on brother, I'll be gentle with my new sister." She ran her nimble fingers on his detka's dark strands. Guessed it won't hurt to comb the tangles on her tresses. He did his best to give her warm sponge baths but he has absolutely no idea what to do with her long hair except brush it.

"Ok, but," he raised his hand to thwart Dinara's squeals. He regressed. His sister was 7. "You have to stay with Beau for an hour or two while I am in a meeting with dad. Use the dry shampoo with the honey and vanilla scent. It's her favorite."

Dinara ran to the bathroom before he even finished his sentence.

He gave a huge sigh of exhaustion. At least he will be leaving his woman in his sister's capable hands.

"I'll be back, baby. You can trust, Dinara. I miss you so much. Please wake up, soon." His dry lips brush her temple and he inhaled her familiar scent deeply.

"Вы любите ее." Dominic glanced at his sister upon hearing her soft whisper. Her unique eyes were watchful and wistful.

"Yes." It was the truth and he won't be a coward and hide it. Beau will know soon enough.

She nodded. Understanding how important the unconscious woman was to him. "Don't worry, I won't leave her side until you come back."

"In case she wakes up...tell her...tell my detka..." He didn't know what to say. This was the first time he will leave her side for a long period of time. What if she woke up?

"Don't worry, Dominic. I know what to say and I'll tell you right away when she comes to. Go before mom gets here." She teased, knowing that will keep him moving.

Growling in annoyance, he bent down to kiss his moya lyubov's lips once more before he unwillingly left them.

She has an elaborate braid in mind that she learned from YouTube. "Don't worry, sis, by the time we are finished you will look prettier.

The beeping sound of the heart monitor and her humming plus her patient's deep breaths were her only companions.

"Aren't you tired of sleeping? You should wake up. I want us to become friends. We can go to an amusement park. I have never been to one and I hope you could show me how fun it can be to ride a roller coaster. Or a big octopus. I also want to win all the stuff toys on all the shooting games we can get our hands-on." She smiled dreamily and thought of the possibilities the two of them can enjoy.

They could escape their bodyguards. That would be a dream come true.

"Or if you don't want to visit carnivals, we could shop until we dropped. But it has to be with my mom and aunt Sandrina. I'm also sure we'll all be busy preparing your wedding soon." She gauged it tight enough and secured the ends of the braids to hold them in place.

"Next, I will need to moisturize your face and lips. You already have the perfect skin, we have to make sure we maintain it." She applied a generous amount of CREME DE LA MER moisturizer on her soft skin down to her neck and she dabbed a strawberry flavor lip balm on Beau's chapped lips.

"There...you look so beautiful, Beau. No wonder my brother is so crazy about you." She beamed. Happy with the results of her work.

"Who...are...you?" A tan slender hand gripped her arm. Jolting her. Dinara's eyes widened in shock and collided with tired brown ones. Holyshit!

Panicking, she reacted on instinct. Before she could stop herself, she screamed.

Her high pitched voice brought the roof down while people down the hall frantically ran towards the closed door. Then she could hear shouting and cursing. Dominic.

Ooops, my bad.
