Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1634

Every time Jupiter got her paycheck, everyone on the team knew exactly who to go to.

“Sis, can you double-check Jupiter’s pay for us?”

Back when her account was suddenly flush with cash, Abby felt uneasy. She even had her daughter call and ask what was going on, only to find out it was listed as “pension.” She took the money, but it never sat quite right with her.

When they first moved, Abby and her daughter crashed at a friend’s place. But after a while, she knew they were overstaying their welcome.

So, she dipped into those funds, found a small apartment, and started building a new life for the two of them.

That first year was rough. Both Abby and Milka had to learn so much just to get by. Looking back, Abby knew it was that money that kept them afloat.

By the second year, Milka landed a job. Abby herself was helping out at a friend’s bakery, getting the hang of things and chatting easily with customers. Still, every month, that wire transfer arrived right on schedule.

Abby started feeling restless. After all those years together, she trusted her ex-husband—she knew he’d never leave them high and dry.

She pulled out a calculator, checked the exchange rates, subtracted the transfer fees, and did the math.

Since the numbers kept changing with the rates, Abby started keeping track. Slowly, she became more and more certain where the money came from.

One day, she finally nailed down the exact amount. It matched her ex-husband’s salary to the penny.

Abby stared at those numbers, torn between wanting to laugh and cry.

He was the one who’d been so quick to agree to the divorce, but even after that, he still looked out for her and their daughter—just too stubborn to admit it.

And like clockwork, the money kept coming every month.

“Mom?! Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Milka blurted out.

Abby just shrugged. “What would you have done if I had? This is between your dad and me.”

Milka was the only one kept in the dark. “Do you think Dad knows that you’ve figured out it’s him sending the money every month?”

Abby smiled, a little wistfully. “Your dad? He’s got his mind on his work. I doubt he ever stops to wonder if I know.”

Bored out of his skull, he pulled out his phone and called his equally bored godson.

“Hey, Andre, where’s my boy?”

“Just picked him up,” Andre replied.

Mars frowned. “Where’d he run off to?”

“His uncle came back, took him for a couple days. Just got him home.”

As usual, it was Andre’s dad who had to go pick the kid up. Hugging his little rascal, Andre pinched his son’s chubby cheeks. “Did you forget where home is, huh?”

Henry pouted. “I’m home now~”

Henry smelled so sour that Mia wrinkled her nose in disgust. She stripped him down right in the yard, grabbed a bucket of water, and gave him a good scrub outside.
