Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1620

They’d worked together before, and Leo had always trusted Alyna’s skills, so he brought her into the company to help out. It took a load off his shoulders—he didn’t have to juggle tech, finances, and business development all at once anymore.

Anya knew about this, too. “Chad, is it because I don’t have a fancy degree that you won’t let me help at the studio?” she asked one day. Her management studies had covered finance and accounting, and over the years, she’d picked up all the certificates Leo had nudged her to get. But still, he didn’t want her in the studio.

When Anya heard Alyna had a master’s, she felt a pang of insecurity. The idea of maybe going to grad school herself crossed her mind—just so she could be more useful to Leo.

Leo pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her. “What’s running through that head of yours, silly Ms. Anya?” he teased. Falling in love had taught him just how twisty a woman’s thoughts could be—she wouldn’t say a word, but her mind would already be running wild with worry.

“I don’t want you working at the studio because you’d distract me,” Leo said, laying it all out. “With you, I can’t stay all business. I’d be worried about you all the time, wanting to do your work for you, just so you could relax and have fun.”

If she messed something up, Leo knew he wouldn’t have the heart to say a harsh word. Having her there would only make life harder for both of them.

Plus, he didn’t want to mix work and home. Work disagreements could lead to arguments or sulking, and if they brought that home, how could they enjoy their time together?

There were just too many unknowns. Leo’s reluctance wasn’t about doubting Anya’s abilities—he was just trying to protect what they had.

But all Anya wanted was to help, to be by his side as he built something from the ground up.

Because they saw things differently, Anya felt a little hurt for days.

But once Leo explained everything, it all made sense to her. Her frustration melted away in an instant. That was just how she was—simple at heart. “Chad, you’re right. I was overthinking it. I’ll listen to you~”

Mia took another bite of her ice cream. “Even if we hadn’t, do you really think your Andre or my Chad would’ve been the type to stroll around campus holding hands like that?”

Molly hugged her iced latte, and the two friends casually swapped drinks and snacks, just like they’d done for years. “You’re right. All those two ever thought about was getting us married, settled down, and…” She coughed. “Starting a family.”

Mia took a sip of Molly’s drink and grinned. “What’s the matter, Molly, feeling bashful now?”

Molly grinned back. “Hey, I’m a manager these days. Gotta keep up appearances.”

After taking photos with Anya, Leo glanced around, spotted the two women, and called out, laughing, “Hey! You two troublemakers, sitting there like you own the place—get over here and take some photos!”
