Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1616

Milka was Jupiter’s only daughter, and Mars was her first love. They had been each other’s “first everything”—first crush, first kiss, first heartbreak.

But after Milka’s parents split, everything changed. Mars couldn’t go home, stuck in the wrong part of town. Their only way to talk was over the phone, and those calls always seemed to end with arguments and hurt feelings. Finally, Milka just called it quits. Mars only said, “Fine. If that’s what you want.”

After the breakup, Milka moved overseas with her mom. Fate being what it is, the first day she was back, she ran into Mars—her ex—walking around with a baby in his arms.

After a little digging, she realized the kid was just his godson.

Milka crossed her arms. “So, if I’d gotten pregnant after that night, what would you have done?”

Mars nearly choked. “Pregnant? From one time?”

He pointed at her stomach, trying to sound casual but looking flustered. “If you really ended up pregnant, I’d marry you. Make it official.”

Milka sucked in a breath, annoyed. “I don’t need you to ‘give’ me anything. I don’t care about your official status.”

Mars blurted out, “Even if you don’t care, I’d still make it happen.”

Milka eyed him. “That call earlier wasn’t from your wife?”

“Hell no. That was my godson’s dad calling.”

Milka rolled her eyes. “Andre?”

She pressed on, “And your daughter? Who’s her mom?”

“Conner had her,” Mars replied, deadpan.

Milka raised her voice, “Mr. Nettleton!”

Mars smirked. “Pretty impressive, considering you’ve been out of the country.”

Finally, Mars realized what Milka actually cared about, and he felt a little relief.

Before they parted, Mars asked quietly, “Still got the same number?”

Milka gave a small, awkward “Mm,” and slid into her car.

Mars watched her go, a faint smile on his lips. Then he got in his own car, dialed her number—the one he knew by heart—and called.

Andre eyed him, suspicious. “Go ahead.”

Mars lowered his voice. “Is it really possible for someone to get pregnant after just one time?” He nodded toward Henry for emphasis.

Henry, half-listening, piped up, “Daddy, is that the baby prize?”

Andre laughed and ruffled his son’s hair, then turned back to Mars. “Who’s the lucky girl?”

Mars just shook his head, saying nothing.

That night, they all ate together at Maplewood Estates. Before leaving, Mars scooped Henry up for a big goodbye hug and planted a few kisses on his cheek. “Godfather’s leaving now. I’ll come walk you to school on your first day, okay?”

Henry waved his little hand, sending Mars off.

A few minutes later, Andre grabbed his keys. “Henry, let’s go pick up Mia from campus.”

They arrived at Havenbrook University early; Mia’s class wasn’t out yet, so Andre handed Henry his skateboard and let him roam the campus lawns.
