Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1538

Conner swallowed hard, his jaw tight as he stared at her belly, his hands gripping tighter and tighter.

Mia’s eyes filled with tears. Henry, worried that his own crying had set his mom off, clamped his little hand over his mouth and tried his hardest not to make a sound. Still, he reached out with his soft little paw to gently wipe away her tears.

“Move aside. Let them through!” Conner’s voice cut through the air, cold and sharp as a winter wind.

“Wait.” Andre’s calm voice stopped everyone in their tracks.

All eyes turned to the man who’d been silent—and almost forgotten—until that moment.

Andre took a step forward, and every one of his men stepped up behind him, perfectly in sync.

“I’m going in with them.”

Mia spun around, eyes wide. “Honey—”

Andre handed his weapons to the bodyguard beside him. Dressed to the nines, he walked forward with empty hands. “If Andre gets kidnapped, Dark Web’s name is just going to get bigger internationally. And if I go down, it won’t just be the Cedillo Group in chaos.”

Miles frowned, studying Andre. What’s he up to?

“You all know me,” Andre said, steady as ever. “All I care about is my wife and kid.”

Henry tilted his head, confused. What’s Dad talking about now?

“My wife and son are in that car. I’m going in with them. If today’s the day Dark Web gets me, then so be it—the Cedillo Group can go down with me.” His words were steel, his stare fierce.

He was ready to risk it all, just to stay by his family’s side.

Mia covered her mouth, her voice trembling. “Honey, I don’t want you to go—”

Henry, still pouting, was lost in thought over what his dad just said.

Annie, guilt written all over her face, whispered, “Mia, Andre, I’m so sorry.”

Mia paused, taking a few breaths to calm down. “Annie, every family’s got its problems. Look—my husband’s in here with us now. He’s tough as nails—I couldn't beat him even if I tried. He’ll keep all three—no, four—of us safe.” Mia nodded toward Annie’s bump with a soft smile.

Annie looked down, touching her belly. “Now I just feel bad for Conner.”

“In a marriage, keeping score doesn’t work. I drive my husband nuts half the time, but he still treats me like his queen. Conner will get it—just have a little faith.”

Andre scanned the area, ever the protector, as Mia tried to lighten the mood. “Honestly, Annie, you’re pregnant and still going through all this chaos. When this baby’s born, what are we in for? Another little troublemaker like my Isaac?”

“Hey, who are you talking about?” Henry piped up.

Mia grinned. “Talking about you, sweetheart.”
