Dennis listened to the old man’s tone with a flicker of amusement in his eyes. This was new. It was the first time his grandfather had called him in to discuss Camila and the Smiths. Was he finally not demanding they break up?

Suppressing his curiosity, Dennis retorted, “Is Grandpa worried I’m going to be abandoned?”

The elder Mr. Williams couldn't stand hearing that. “She wouldn’t dare abandon you!” he barked.

Dennis’s eyes danced with a hidden smile, but he maintained his nonchalant attitude. “Why wouldn’t she dare? You’ve done everything you can to stand in our way. Can’t you allow someone to have second thoughts? Isn’t this what you wanted to see?”

The old man was about to explode from his grandson’s calm demeanor. “I stood in the way because my grandson is exceptional! She’s the one who benefits from being with you!
