As if reading her mind, Dennis let out a soft chuckle and gently pinched her cheek. "You worked all day and haven't even had dinner. I'll wait until you've eaten and regained your strength," he murmured. "I'm not in a hurry…"
Camila's face flushed. He was saying she was too worn out to keep up with him!
She gave him a playful swat on the chest. She'd thought he was trying to be a gentleman, but it turned out that wasn't it at all.
Dennis smiled, catching her small fist and bringing it to his lips for a kiss before leading her downstairs to eat.
While they enjoyed their sweet, peaceful evening together, others were growing restless.
At the Lee estate, Cynthia Lee was stunned to hear that the Smiths had already returned to Harrisburg. They had just arrived in Cabinda. How could they have left so quickly?
Her assistant reluctantly recounted the entire incident, including the disastrous confrontation at the hospital.
Cynthia listened in disbelief. She had been the one to lure the Smiths from Harrisburg, believing they would be more effective at disrupting Camila and Dennis's relationship than the powerless Lavinia Roberts or Sandra Taylor. She had personally sent them the photos, scheming to bring them to Cabinda so she could sit back and reap the rewards.
But she never imagined they would fail so spectacularly within a single day.
"Is that Mrs. Smith an idiot?" Cynthia raged, pacing her room. "Why would she attack Camila's mother? Doesn't she know anything about Camila? Doesn't she understand that you have to be patient with these things?"
