After Susan closed the door, Dennis stepped forward and gently pulled Camila up from the floor. She stumbled as she rose to her feet.
He steadied her, his voice soft and tinged with无奈. “Legs fell asleep?”
Camila nodded, clutching his hand. “Just give me a second.”
Without a word, he swept her into his arms and carried her back to their room. She didn’t struggle, simply wrapping her arms around his neck.
Once the bedroom door was closed, he set her down only to pull her into a fierce, all-consuming kiss. The clean, cool scent of him, like bamboo under the moonlight, enveloped her. His presence was overwhelming, his hot tongue expertly tangling with hers. Her mind went blank, her body responding on instinct alone.
After what felt like an eternity, when the world had started to spin, the kiss finally ended. She remained dazed, staring at him with a look of pure confusion, as if she couldn’t comprehend why he had suddenly kissed her.
He seemed to read her mind, nuzzling his nose against hers. “You were huddled out there looking so pitiful,” he murmured, his voice husky. “Were you trying to torture me?”
Camila finally snapped back to reality. “No, I wasn’t…” she protested weakly, but her words lacked conviction. She had been so overwhelmed with heartache that her legs had given out, and she had slid down the wall, too lost in her grief to get back up.
