“Alright, Mommy’s going to miss you too, Lillian.”
She scooped her little girl into her arms, planting a gentle kiss on her soft cheek. “While you’re at home, remember to listen to Grandma and Grandpa, okay?”
“Okay!”
The little one nodded obediently, her tiny head bobbing with determination.
Then, without being prompted, she slid down from her mother’s arms and waved her small hand. “Bye-bye, Mommy!”
“Goodbye, sweetheart!”
With her parents watching from the doorway and her daughter waving from behind, Camila Davis picked up her suitcase and stepped outside.
After meeting up with Dennis Williams, they drove straight to the military base.
It wasn’t until they were on the road that Camila finally turned to Dennis. “Can you tell me who I’ll be treating this time?”
She wanted at least a little time to prepare herself.
Dennis didn’t keep her guessing. “You’ll be helping a very unique squad.”
“Oh?” Camila’s curiosity was piqued. “Like Harrisburg’s team?”
He shook his head. “Even more special than that.”
“Huh!”
Camila didn’t quite grasp what “more special” meant—at least not until they reached the base, went through a series of strict security checks, and were finally led into a highly restricted area. Only then did she realize just how unusual this assignment really was.
She never expected the ones needing her help would be the Extraordinary Special Forces Team.
This unit was shrouded in mystery. In fact, most people believed they were nothing but a rumor.
The squad was small in number, but every member was born with extraordinary abilities.
Most of the time, they operated solo, scattered on secret assignments, rarely appearing in public together.
Camila’s eyes widened in disbelief. “I’ve heard stories about gifted operatives in the military, but I always thought they were just legends. I can’t believe they’re real!”
Her heart was pounding with excitement.
Just then, a middle-aged man with an air of authority strode in. What stood out immediately were the twin hearing aids in his ears.
