Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1268

He was already out the gates of the Collins Estate, and no one dared to stop him. They could only stand there and watch as he got into his car and drove away.

Dennis Williams didn't say a word about what the Collins family had done. He had no plans to change his attitude toward them, either.

Aaron, who had seen the whole scene, found it more than a little ironic. The Collins family, always so obsessed with their own interests, trying to win Mr. Williams over with some heartfelt act? It was honestly kind of ridiculous.

Of course, Mr. Williams wasn't falling for it.

Aaron turned to him. “Should we head back to the Smith Group now?”

Dennis shook his head. “No, we have something more important to do. Take me to Eagle’s Peak Estate.”

“Alright.”

Aaron didn’t press for details. He just drove straight to Eagle’s Peak Estate. Once Dennis was inside, he kept himself busy for the entire afternoon.

It was only as the sun started to set that Dennis finally left Eagle’s Peak Estate. He went to pick Lillian up from school, and then they joined Camila Davis and her family for dinner.

Camila hadn’t wasted her afternoon, either. She picked up her knitting again, her fingers growing more confident with every row. The scarf was coming together quicker now. By the time Dennis and Lillian came home, she had finished another little section.

She grinned as she showed them her progress, holding up the yarn with pride. “Look, I got this much done this afternoon! I’ll have the whole thing finished in no time.”

The scarf was a soft, buttery yellow—a bright color Lillian loved. Camila gently wrapped the new section around her daughter’s neck, the cheerful color making Lillian look even sweeter and more adorable.

“It’s perfect. It really suits you, Lillian.” Camila was clearly pleased.

Dennis understood why she was making these scarves. Watching Camila and Lillian laugh together tugged at something deep in his chest. Still, he knew this was important to her, so he didn’t say a word. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.

Lillian hugged the scarf to her cheek, her eyes shining. “Wow! Mommy, you’re so amazing! The scarf is so pretty. I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.”

Camila ruffled her daughter’s hair with a smile. “Then I’ll knit even faster, so you can wear it soon.”

“Okay! I can’t wait!” Lillian nodded excitedly and snuggled up beside her mom, watching her work.

After dinner, Lillian headed off to the art room to paint. Camila set her knitting aside to keep her company.
