Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1226

Everyone seemed to get it, so no one said anything more. Audrey stepped aside and dialed Walter. He picked up almost instantly, but before he could say anything, Audrey jumped in with her usual energy. “Hey, Mr. Busy, are you finally done for the day?”

“All done. I’ll be there in a minute.”

“Alright, I’ll be waiting!”

Pearson watched her, her face glowing as she chatted on the phone. His own eyes dimmed for just a second, a flicker of disappointment showing before he managed to hide it and started gathering his things.

When Audrey finished her call, she came back to the group. Together, they walked out of the school gates. As soon as they reached the entrance, they spotted a car parked outside that was impossible to ignore.

It was a Rolls-Royce, the newest limited edition. Walter was leaning against the car, one leg crossed over the other, his elbow resting on the roof. He looked effortlessly relaxed.

He was tall, with a slender frame, dressed in a black turtleneck underneath a perfectly tailored suit and a long overcoat. He looked both elegant and strikingly handsome.

His features were sharp and sculpted, every line of his face perfect, his presence impossible to overlook. Every detail drew the eye, making it hard to look away.

Around them, a group of female students stared, completely mesmerized.

One girl covered her face in excitement, barely able to keep it together. “He’s so handsome. Is he even real? Do you think I could get his number?”

“I want his number too! That vibe, that body, that face… he’s just unreal!”

“Oh my god, I can’t stop looking at him. I wonder if he’ll give me his WeChat!”

Audrey heard their whispers and smiled, her lips curving in satisfaction. Of course, the guy she liked would be this amazing.

But she didn’t plan to give them a chance.

She grinned and called out, “Sorry, no can do. He’s the one I’ve got my eye on.”

“Huh?” The girls froze, all looking over at Audrey in surprise.

She didn’t bother explaining further. Instead, she walked right up to Walter and greeted him.

“Walter, did you wait long?”

It wasn’t until they were seated in a private dining room that it hit them. They might have just made friends with two big shots.

All at once, the mood got awkward. No one dared to ask for Walter’s contact anymore, and they didn’t even want to touch the menus.

Audrey picked up on their nerves right away. After asking everyone what they liked, she ordered for the table, then smiled at them. “Relax, okay? This is just a team dinner. Let’s eat well and have a good time.”

She had a way of making people feel at ease, and soon enough everyone was chatting and laughing again.

Dinner was amazing. Once everyone loosened up, they really enjoyed themselves.

Pearson, though, had been quiet ever since Walter showed up. He couldn’t deny that he felt a little down. He had been thinking about pursuing Audrey, but now he had to face such a strong rival.

He kept sneaking glances at Walter, sizing him up, and had to admit the guy was impressive in every way.

But there was one thing he couldn’t figure out. What exactly did Audrey mean when she said she had her eye on him? Did that mean they weren’t officially together yet?

During dinner, Pearson watched the way Audrey and Walter interacted. They didn’t seem quite like a couple, but there was definitely something close between them. Walter kept looking out for Audrey in little ways, and she accepted every bit of his attention like it was the most natural thing in the world…
