Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1168

He leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to Camila Davis’s forehead. “This time, I’ll take care of the Lee family for good. I’m going to make sure there’s nothing left unresolved. They’ll never get another chance.”

All three members of the Lee family had to go to jail.

Camila nodded, then looked at him hopefully. “So, now that everything’s settled, can we finally go home?”

She was talking about her real home. Ever since she got back to the country, seeing her family was all she could think about. After hiding out for so long, now that the storm had passed, she just wanted to go back.

Dennis smiled at her. “Of course. Want to head there now?”

“Yes!” Camila couldn’t hide her excitement. “My parents must be worried sick. My mom had a cold last time I called… I hope she’s better now. Let’s go check on them.”

“Alright.” Dennis told the driver to take them straight to Camila’s family home.

On the way, he messaged her parents to let them know they were coming. The news had them so excited they were waiting outside before the car even pulled up, waving as soon as they saw it.

The moment Camila spotted them, her eyes stung with emotion. She could barely wait for the car to stop before she jumped out and ran straight into their arms.

“Dad! Mom!” She hugged them both, squeezing tight.

“Camila, you’re finally back! Are you okay? You’re sure nothing happened to you while you were abroad?” Melissa George had trusted Dennis to look after her daughter, but until Camila was standing right in front of her, she couldn’t help but worry. Now that everything was over, she could finally hold her daughter close and make sure she was really alright.

Melissa gave her a once-over, noticing how healthy her skin looked and how bright her eyes were. She turned to Jerry and whispered, “She looks like she’s put on a little weight, doesn’t she?”

Jerry grinned. “She does look happier. Dennis must have taken great care of her.”

He made a few calls and invited everyone over. Melissa took over the kitchen, with Susan helping out, and in just a couple of hours, they had a table overflowing with delicious food.

The elder Mr. Williams arrived with his son and daughter-in-law a little later. It wasn’t that they were being formal. They just wanted to make a good impression, since it was their first time visiting, and they’d taken extra care picking out thoughtful gifts.

“We came on short notice, so we hope these small gifts are okay,” Charlotte Kelly said with a warm smile, setting the packages down.

Melissa greeted her with a big grin, taking her hand. “You’re too polite. You didn’t need to bring anything. We’re just happy you’re here. Come on, let’s sit down. You have to try my cooking.”

Mr. Williams and Douglas joined in the cheerful mood and everyone took their seats. The dinner was lively and filled with laughter. No one stood on ceremony. At one point, Audrey turned to Larry, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. “Larry, did you take Sarah to meet your grandma yet?”

Larry nodded. “Yeah, we went already.” His family had met Sarah before, and once they found out she was his girlfriend, they were all genuinely happy for him. Sarah’s personality was warm and lively, and she came from a good family. When Larry first returned to Cabinda, she’d helped him set up his business, and she’d always had his back in public. Most importantly, she was there for him through everything, especially when his mother was reburied. Seeing how good she was to him, there was no way his family could ever object.
