Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1161

Sarah Brown didn’t really care what happened to the Lees. What mattered most to her was her best friend’s safety.

“Did they catch that Patton guy yet? With all the evidence piling up, shouldn’t the police be making arrests by now?”

Dennis Williams gave her a reassuring nod. “It’s basically done. The evidence is already in, so the arrests are just a matter of process. Don’t worry, no one’s getting away.”

No matter who hurt Camila, Dennis would never let them off the hook. He always kept his promises.

Sarah believed him completely. She smiled, lifted her glass, and said, “Then let’s celebrate. The bad guys are finally getting what they deserve, and Camila is finally getting some justice.”

“Absolutely, that’s something worth toasting to,” Larry Adams chimed in, raising his glass with hers.

Lillian, who was sitting nearby, didn’t really follow what the adults were saying, but as soon as she heard “toast,” she eagerly picked up her juice and chimed in, “Lillian wants to toast too! Let’s celebrate!”

Sarah grinned at her. “Of course, you’re included. We can’t leave out our little sweetheart.” She clinked glasses with Lillian, who giggled and took a happy sip.

Everyone watched them, smiling at the scene.

Later that night, Audrey Williams got a photo from Sarah showing off the dinner. She stared at it, feeling a little left out, and couldn’t help complaining out loud, “You guys are the worst! Why didn’t you wait for me? So much for friendship!”

Sarah called her and teased, “Wait for you? For what? We’re all couples here. We thought you’d be too much of a third wheel and steal the spotlight.”

Audrey protested, “But Lillian’s there! I could’ve sat with her!”

Sarah laughed, “Lillian’s got Lightning hanging out with her. You, on the other hand, would just be alone. Better not bother her.”

“Sarah, you guys are so mean!” Audrey whined, half laughing, half pouting.

When Cynthia saw Audrey dressed and ready to go, she looked surprised. “Audrey, you’re all dressed. Are you leaving the hospital?”

Audrey was a little surprised too. Cynthia hadn’t visited these past few days, and Audrey had honestly thought she’d given up. In just a few days, Cynthia looked completely drained, with dark circles under her eyes—obviously from too many sleepless nights. Given all the chaos with the Lee family lately, Audrey couldn’t really blame her. Still, she didn’t feel much sympathy, so she just played it cool.

She nodded. “Yeah, I’m getting discharged. Is there something you need?”

Cynthia came over quickly, clutching Audrey’s hand, her eyes suddenly watery. “Audrey, you’ve seen what’s happening to my family, right? My dad’s got a mistress now, and he’s favoring her and her kids over me. Technically, I’m the legal heir, but I want to take back control of the Lee Group. Can you help me?”

Cynthia knew she couldn’t handle the return of those illegitimate kids on her own. But if someone powerful helped her—like the Williams family, who were even more influential than the Lees—things might be different. With their help, her dad wouldn’t dare try to bring those kids back into the family.

Audrey raised an eyebrow. “How exactly do you want me to help?”

Cynthia’s face was full of desperation. “I wouldn’t ask if I had any other option. It’s not just my dad—my grandmother and grandfather want those two to come back too. If they do, there won’t be any place left for me in the Lee family.”
