Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1142

“When did you… sleep with me?” Larry finally blurted out, stumbling over the words.

Sarah was tipsy, her cheeks flushed, but she answered without missing a beat, even if her words came out a little slurred. “That night… You were so upset, and I took advantage of you. I’m really sorry…” The more she spoke, the more guilty she sounded.

Larry was completely confused. When had anything ever happened between them? His own head was swimming from the drinks, making it hard to think straight. He tried to clear things up, but the words tumbled out wrong. “You’re drunk. I’m not… Wait, no. I guess I am drunk too…”

What really happened that night?

Larry was still racking his brain when Sarah suddenly leaned in and kissed him, catching him totally off guard. He froze, wide-eyed.

She pressed her lips close to his ear, her breath warm and heavy with the scent of alcohol. “That’s why, last time, it didn’t feel like anything at all…”

Her words sent a jolt straight down Larry’s spine. He felt a strange heat spreading through him, his mind spinning. “Sarah… get off me, okay?”

But Sarah just ignored him. She steadied herself on his shoulders and looked him right in the eyes. “Larry Adams, did you enjoy it that night?”

Larry stared back, lost for words. Sarah waited, eyebrows raised, clearly wanting an answer.

He could only shake his head. “I don’t remember.”

“Really?” Sarah let out a soft laugh. “Guess what… I don’t remember either.”

No one would expect words like that from Sarah, but tonight she was a whole different person. She leaned down and started kissing his collarbone, her movements a little rough thanks to the alcohol.

A low sound escaped Larry, and the sensation snapped him back to reality. He quickly pulled away, putting some space between them. “Sarah, stop. Don’t do something you’ll regret.”

Sarah just laughed, brushing off his concern. “Regret? Please. The only thing I’d regret is not doing something tonight.”

She pouted, clearly annoyed by his resistance. “Larry Adams, what’s your problem? You talk way too much…”

Larry couldn’t help but let out a short laugh, clenching his jaw. “Alright. I just hope you remember this tomorrow and still have so much to say.”
