Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1104

Aaron walked right up to Jordan Smith and stared him down, his face unreadable. “Mr. Smith. What are you doing here?”

Jordan recognized him immediately. His eyes followed where Aaron had come from, landing on the car slipping into the darkness, but it was too late to see anything clearly.

“I’m here to see Camila,” Jordan answered, keeping his voice steady.

Aaron let out a quick, mocking laugh. “Pretty sure Ms. Davis already said she doesn’t want to see you. So, what’s this, Mr. Smith? Just a coincidence you’re here, or are you here on purpose?”

Jordan frowned a little. There was definitely a hidden meaning in Aaron’s words.

Aaron wasn’t about to play games. His voice turned cold. “Camila just got here for treatment. Not long after, she was hunted by some pretty nasty people. Want to guess who’s behind it?”

Jordan tensed up as soon as he heard that. “Camila was in danger? Is she okay?” His worry was obvious, almost desperate.

Aaron didn’t buy it for a second. He shot him a look full of scorn. “Her safety isn’t your concern. Mr. Williams can protect her. And as for the attack, it’s all because of you.”

Jordan’s expression darkened. Now he understood why Aaron was being so hostile. “You think I’m responsible?”

Aaron’s tone got even colder. “Doesn’t matter if you did it or not. You’re still involved. Or maybe this is just what happens when your old flings come back to bite you.”

Jordan hated being talked to like this. “Say what you mean,” he snapped.

Aaron shrugged. “Alright, I’ll spell it out. Sandra Taylor found some shady contacts, hired a hit squad to go after Ms. Davis. Tonight, she even dragged over a bunch of homeless people, hoping they’d humiliate her. All of this is because of you.”

Jordan’s jaw dropped. “What? No way. Isn’t Sandra back home? She doesn’t have any power. Why would she even try something like that?”

He was so shocked, he started wondering if Aaron was just making it up to push him away.

Jordan’s patience was running out. “This is about Camila’s recovery. Doesn’t your boss care about her?”

Aaron’s eyes narrowed. “Oh, now you care? Where was that before? If you’d done something about your family, maybe she wouldn’t have had to go through so much. Mr. Smith, you’ve already caused her enough pain to last a lifetime. Still clinging to your fantasies... don’t you think that’s ridiculous? And honestly, late love is worth less than nothing. Camila doesn’t need it. Mr. Williams will take care of her recovery. You don’t have to worry.”

That was the end of it. Aaron didn’t wait for a reply. The gate closed, leaving Jordan standing outside in the night.

Aaron walked into the villa just as Dennis Williams was coming down the stairs after making sure Camila was settled in. “Did he leave?” Dennis asked.

Aaron nodded. “Should be gone by now.” He quickly filled Dennis in on what Jordan wanted, and how he’d sent him to the Red Spider place.

Dennis didn’t object to the plan, but his voice was serious. “Keep an eye on him. Don’t let Smith mess up what we’re working on.”

Things with Professor Keri were finally moving forward. Dennis wasn’t about to let anyone ruin that now.
