Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1080

The job he’d taken was a hit, and his target was sitting right in front of him. But RedFox wasn’t about to share that piece of information just yet.

Camila gave him a small, easy smile, like none of this bothered her. “Okay, let’s put that aside for now. Tell me exactly what’s going on with your leg. If you have any medical records, I’d like to see them. And you’ll need to untie me. If you want treatment, I can’t do much with my hands tied up.”

She sounded so professional that RedFox didn’t argue. He just leveled her with a warning. “Don’t try anything stupid. Getting out of here isn’t as simple as you might think.”

Camila nodded, her expression calm. “Trust me, I know my situation. I’m just a prisoner. I’m not some action hero who can take on you and your whole crew. Even if I had the skills, I wouldn’t be crazy enough to make a break for it. I saw what happened to the last guy who tried something. Everyone here is armed, right? Me, I’m unarmed and outnumbered. I’d be full of holes before I even made it to the door.”

Her blunt honesty made RedFox almost smile. “You know, Camila, you’ve got guts.”

He didn’t say more, but his eyes held something different now. The usual scorn was gone, replaced with a hint of respect. He was here to kill her, but after talking with her a couple times, he couldn’t help but be impressed. She was calm, collected, and carried herself with a quiet confidence that was hard to ignore. If she really could fix his leg, maybe…

RedFox shook the thought away and signaled to his men. “Go get my medical records. The ones from before.”

“On it,” his subordinate replied, hurrying off.

Camila took the folder when it was handed to her and started reading. RedFox didn’t bother looking. Those files were nothing but a record of his failures—a reminder that his leg was probably beyond saving.

Camila let go of his leg and met his eyes. She didn’t sugarcoat it. “The poison caused a lot of nerve damage and your muscles have wasted away. But it’s treatable. I can help.”

For a second, RedFox’s eyes brightened, but he kept his cool. “How?”

“To get your leg back to normal, we’ll need to use medicinal herbs to help the nerves and muscles recover. Only when they’re stronger can we start working to clear the toxin out. If we skip that step, even if the poison goes away, your leg still won’t work right. Also, the poison is still spreading. I’m guessing it’s already affecting your whole lower body, right? If nothing’s done, you’ll probably be paralyzed for good in six months.”

She paused, not waiting for him to answer. Her voice softened. “And if I’m right… other things aren’t working so well for you either, are they?”
