Chapter 523 He's alive
Paul's heart jerked. He glanced back at the female clerk in astonishment and asked in a deep voice, "What did you say?" The female clerk was so scared that her face turned pale. She stammered, "Just... Just now, two men suddenly came in and showed us their police badges, saying that they would arrest someone. We didn't dare to stop them, and then they
took the lady away..."
Paul's ears rumbled loudly as anger surged up in his heart. He strode out of the store and looked around. But there was
no trace of Lucia. It seemed that she had been taken away! Paul suddenly had a bad feeling in his heart. After thinking it
over, he locked his suspicions on two people: Bishop and August. Only the two of them dared to take her away like that! Paul gritted his teeth in fury. He took out his mobile phone and called Archie directly, "Someone took Lucia away! Check
who did it!"
After that, he hung up the phone and immediately dialed another number. It rang several times before someone
answered. On the other end of the line came Bishop's lazy voice. "What's up, Mr. Thomas?"
Paul's heart was filled with anger, and his voice was anxious. He asked coldly, "Did you take Lucia away?"
The person on the other end of the phone paused for a moment, and then Bishop chuckled, "President Thomas, I don't
need to lie to you. I still remember what I promised you before."
Paul lowered his voice and asked coldly, "She was suddenly taken away ten minutes ago. Are you sure you have nothing
to do with that?"
"Of course," Bishop said slowly, "What can I get by taking her away?"
Paul took a deep breath and asked, "What about August? Have you caught him?"
Hearing this name, Bishop paused for a moment, then replied in a cold tone, "No."
Paul wrinkled and said, "I've told my subordinates to tell you the location. How come you still didn't get him?"
On the other end of the line, Bishop snorted, "You think I didn't want to? He was already gone when I arrived with my
men."
Silent for a few seconds later, he said softly, "You said Lucia was taken away by someone? I think it's most likely that
August did it."
Paul frowned subconsciously upon hearing this. He hesitated for a moment then asked, "How do we find him?"
August was a dead man to the public. But even Bishop couldn't find him, not to mention him.
"If I knew where he was, I would have caught him long ago." Bishop laughed coldly. "However, he should be with Joshua.
Without their help, he would probably have died long ago."
Paul's expression became serious after hearing this. "I understand, thank you."
After saying this, he hung up the phone, left the mall, and called his subordinates to gather.
Although he didn't know exactly why August had taken Lucia away, he was very clearly aware that it wouldn't be good to
let Lucia meet in August, and he had to think of a way to stop her!
Lucia was stunned, and then she followed him with a complicated feeling in her heart.
Did it mean that August was safe too?
more nervous, and even her breathing unconsciously became lighter. After going out, she finally had time to observe. It seemed to be a villa. The house was bright and wide, with a unique decor style.
Burton led her through the corridor and entered the last room. He opened the door and indicated for her to enter. Taking
a deep breath, Lucia walked in. The curtains were half drawn, so she couldn't see clearly.
Before she could check the surroundings, the door was suddenly closed and Burton left. She took a deep breath and
wanted to open the curtains when a voice suddenly resounded from a dark corner of the room.
"Stop."
Lucia's move froze. Goosebumps instantly covered her skin. That was August's voice! It was him! She immediately looked in the direction of the voice and saw a person sitting in a dark corner of the room. The man seemed to blend into the darkness. If he hadn't spoken, she wouldn't have noticed his existence at all. Lucia bit down on her lower lip. Her blood was boiling. It was unknown if it was because she was feeling happy or surprised. So he was still alive!
Just as Lucia was stunned and at a loss, all of a sudden, with a "patter-'sound, August turned on the lamp on the round table beside him. The light immediately lit up half of his handsome face.
Taking a deep breath, Lucia slowly recovered from her shock and asked, "Why... Why are you here?"
Hearing this, August's face instantly darkened. He frowned slightly, stared at Lucia with his amber-like eyes, and asked in a cold voice, "Why can't I be here? Is it because a dead person shouldn't appear in front of you?"
Feeling the coldness in the man's tone, Lucia frowned slightly and her tone turned cold too, "No, I don't mean that." She had thought that finding August would be a good thing, but she had not expected that he was still so cold and distant from her. His hostility towards her was obvious.
