Nell did not even remember when she had been saved by Gideon. She had completely forgotten what had happened afterward.
The aftereffects of drinking along with the drug were still making her head hurt!
Gideon watched her hit her head with a confused frown and a bad feeling arose in his heart.
“Don’t tell me that you don’t remember what happened last night.”
Nell looked up at him and said in a daze, “No, I remember. I was schemed against by Hayley Morton at Pearl River International. She drugged me and found four men to gangrape me, but I pummeled them to the ground.
Gideon’s eyelid twitched viciously.
“Then?”
“Then?”
Nell stared at him blankly.
“Then… You rescued me?”
“Heh!”
Gideon smiled darkly and lost the mood to hold her up to help her eat. He took his coat and turned to walk away.
“Hey! Where are you going? You haven’t told me yet!”
The answer to Nell’s question was the sound of the door closing.
Nell rubbed her nose gloomily, feeling that this man really had an odd temper.
One second he was completely fine, and the next second he became angry.
It was truly inexplicable!
However, she was not in the mood to bicker with the man at the moment. She had spent too much physical energy last night and her stomach was rumbling.
Grimacing, she got out of bed and sluggishly moved over to the table before sinking into the chair.
Gideon had prepared a rich breakfast for her. There was porridge, crab roe buns, and fried dough buns; they were all her favorites.
Nell ate her fill and felt much better after the meal. Her body was no longer as sore and uncomfortable, so she went to the bathroom to wash up.
A set of women’s attire was stacked on top of the bed, presumably prepared for her.
After changing, she walked out of the bedroom, thinking that, with how angry he had been earlier, Gideon would have already left.
Unexpectedly, she saw him sitting on the sofa in the living room, using his laptop to handle business.
Nell was immediately overjoyed.
“You didn’t leave!”
Gideon did not look pleased and simply snorted coldly.
Nell quickly ran over and sat down beside him.
“I was just joking with you earlier. How could I have forgotten? Thank you for saving me last night!”
The woman tugged at his sleeve with a fawning smile.
Gideon gave her a sideways glance and smiled vaguely.
“I’ve seen your true colors now.”
“Huh? What?”
“Hah! Whenever you need me, you’ll take the initiative to call me ‘dear’ affectionately. When you don’t need me, you want me to respect you and keep my distance. Hah… Women!”
Nell. “...”
Gideon closed the laptop and stood up.
“Matthew!”
“Here.”
Nell did not notice when Matthew had arrived. He had been standing at the entrance porch earlier.
“We’re going back to the company.”
“Yessir.”
He even got mad at her?
Nell felt a little depressed and grew even more gloomy when she thought about last night’s events.
Her eyes grew cold and she picked up her phone to dial a number.
“Hello, is this the police station? I want to make a report!”
One month ago on this very day, she had sent Jason Morton and Celine Jennings to the police station. Now, she sent Hayley Morton there as well.
When Thomas Morton learned what Hayley did last night, he was so angry that he broke an antique vase in his home before storming to the police station to drag her back.
Nell learned from Nancy that Gideon had ordered the four bodyguards last night to be disposed of, so she knew that an in-depth investigation could not be conducted.
She just wanted to teach Hayley a lesson and give her a warning to let her know that she was not an easy target to bully.
As a result, she did not say much when Thomas Morton pleaded for mercy, and only stated that she did not want to see Hayley in Jincheng again.
It had just been a casual comment.
Nell knew her reputation very well. Thomas might look angry on the surface, but he was actually very protective, so he might not be willing to send his precious daughter away.
Unexpectedly, Thomas actually agreed.
He almost seemed to beg. “Nell, I know that it’s always our Morton family that lets you down. I’m too ashamed to defend myself in this matter, but haven’t I treated you well for all these years? Even if it’s just for the sake of the old classmate relationship I had with your mother, could you spare Hayley? Could you spare the Morton family?
Nell was shocked.
She looked at Thomas in confusion. “Uncle Thomas, you must be joking! What right do I have to spare the Morton family? I didn’t even do anything to you!”
“That’s…”
Thomas looked embarrassed.
All he knew was that he was informed this morning that all business deals between the Mortons and Leiths had been stopped.
Furthermore, several other partners had also called him one after another stating that they wanted to terminate their cooperation with Morton Corporation.
There were several projects that had almost finished negotiations. All that was left was to sign the contract in black and white.
