Nell made a face of sudden realization.

“Oh, so you do know about this role too!”

Duh! How would she not know about the role she spent a month fighting for but to no fruition?

However, Nell seemed to have her mind set on playing dumb and there was nothing Celine could do about it.

Taking a deep breath, Celine spoke with a gruff, “This is a role that demands great acting skills. The newbies under you do not equal to the task, you know better than I. Why bother putting yourself to shame?

Nell smiled.

“We’ll only know if I’m putting myself to shame after trying, no?”

She paused and turned to Celine. The twinkle in her eyes was dripping with sarcasm.

“Though, I did hear that a certain somebody had been fighting for the role to no avail, yet still clinging on somehow. Sounds more like bringing disgrace upon themselves, don’t you think?”

“You!”

Unable to keep her cool, Celine’s face turned sour.

She could put up with Nell stealing the supporting actress role in ‘Hidden River: Ashley’.

However, here she was, stealing yet another role in ‘Chasing Wind’!

Did Nell want to steal everything she had her eye on?

Celine had the feeling as though she was made the target to be pitted against. Gawping at the faint smile on Nell’s apathetic face, Celine swallowed her anger.

Squeezing a fake smile, she croaked, “Well, since you’re refusing to take my advice, we’ll see who takes home the crown!”

The chance slipped through her fingers the last time due to Mia’s lack of commitment.

This time, she attended to the matter herself, was she going to be outshone again?

Eric may be fond of putting newbies into his roles, but he still had to take the box office into account!

She had a huge fan base and quite the celebrity status after all. Although she had a great following, she did not have anything worthwhile to show for. Thus, Celine was in urgent need of a reputable box office hit to be attached to her name. Otherwise, she would never land herself in such a lowly position just for a role!

Due to the film being shot in the male lead’s perspective, the workload for the female roles did not carry much weight. The female lead was an elderly figure, as such a middle-aged film star had been cast.

Hence, the choice left was the male lead’s sister, the supporting female role.

It might only be a supporting role, but this was ultimately Eric Freeman’s production. It was enough for an influencer like her to bask in the glory.

Moreover, this role, whether in terms of age or bearing, was most compatible with her.

Therefore, Celine was confident that it was in the bag.

Nell kept quiet even though she was aware of what was on Celine’s mind. She turned away to excuse herself when a male voice was heard coming from her back.

“Nell?”

She turned to see Jason walking this way.

“Brother Jay.”

With her face dancing with joy, Celine advanced forth to hold him by the arm and spoke in a soft voice, “You’re here.”

Jason glanced at her before nodding. “Yes, I just finished a discussion with a friend. What were you talking about?”

It was not as though he did not smell the gunpowder in the air. He was no stranger to the discord between Celine and Nell.

Hence, he merely made a passing comment.

“Em! Stop it!”

Murmurs of discussion filled the room.

“What happened five years ago? What does it have to do with the Royal Academy of Arts?”

“Don’t you know? They’re sisters. It’s said that five years ago, the older sister was jealous of the younger sister’s talent so she resorted to stealing her work and submitting it in her own name. She was found out in the end! She did not get accepted, neither did the younger sister.”

“Huh? Really? For real?”

“The news spread through Azure High and the Royal Academy of Arts! It sure isn’t fake.”

“What vile intentions! The enrolment to the Royal Academy of Arts only takes place once every three years. It’s such a rare opportunity!”

“Who said it isn’t?”

“Well, it means she doesn’t have the skills to get accepted, but why did she have to steal the work of another? This is just bad conduct!

“Indeed, indeed.”

The girl named Em raised her brows in delight amid the conversation happening around.

Flustered in the face, Celine immediately explained, “Quit talking. It’s not what you think it is. Sister... sister was in a moment of weakness, she didn’t mean to!”

“Celine Jennings, you’re too kind! Why bother covering up for a person like this?”

“Yes, she’s taking advantage of you. She won’t thank you even if you concede. Don’t be stupid!”

“No, sister isn’t such a person.”

“Celine, I have to say, you’re too much of a pushover. If I were you and have such a sister, I’ll retaliate, a tooth for a tooth, and let the world know so that she’ll never be able to live it down!”
