Aunt Karen stopped in her steps all of a sudden.
Nell Jennings was following behind her, and when she stopped walking, Nell naturally could not continue either.
She was surprised as she saw this and shouted curiously, "Aunt Karen, what's wrong?"
Aunt Karen looked back at Nell with a slight frown on her brow and asked, "Where did you come from?"
Nell immediately smiled when she heard this and replied, "Ah, China. Do you know this country?"
Aunt Karen's face instantly changed.
Actually, in this part of Southeast Asia, the people looked similar.
When Nell and Nancy arrived, they were speaking fluent English, and Nancy was speaking several sentences of Country T’s language to hide her identity.
This led Fred and Karen to think that they were from Country T.
After all, Nell was with Nancy and they were good friends, so they just deduced that they were both from the same country.
At that time, as soon as Aunt Karen heard Nell say that she was from China, she was severely shocked and her face changed dramatically.
Nell saw that something was wrong with Karen’s complexion, so she reached out and waved her hand in front of her. She asked, "Aunt Karen, are you alright? Did I say something wrong?"
Karen finally came back to her senses and shook her head.
"No, no."
Then, she looked panicked, turned around, and continued to walk forward.
Although Aunt Karen said that nothing was wrong, Nell could tell that she was shocked and disoriented at that moment and it was obvious that she had something on her mind.
Why was that?
Was it because of what she just said?
What did she just say?
Nell mentioned a big villa, theme parks, and ice sculptures. She also mentioned that she was from China.
Which of those words had poked Aunt Karen in the heart?
Nell was not sure, but she was now more and more certain that this Aunt Karen should be just like them, and was abducted and sold here in a different way.
As she thought of this, she then looked at her Aunt Karen’s slightly old and rickety back. She could not help but feel a bit of sympathy.
None of them had it easy.
Nell thought that If she could escape, then she would find a way to rescue the others.
She thought so and followed Aunt Karen back without uttering a word.
After they returned, Aunt Karen's face did not look too good. She excused herself by saying that she was not feeling too well and needed to go back to her room to rest. She told them to stay at home and not to wander around. She then went back to her room.
When Nell returned to her room on the second floor, Nancy was sitting there. When she saw that Nell had returned, she even asked, "How was it?"
Nell did not say anything at first. After she returned to the room, she locked the door, went over to Nancy, and whispered, "Things aren't going too well. They're still wary of me. That Fred doesn't seem to like me going out very much, but that's okay, I'll find another excuse."
She then brought the basket of flowers over and said, "Look, what's this?"
Nancy was surprised and replied, "Flowers? Why did you pick so many?"
Nell smiled mysteriously and said, "Don't underestimate these flowers. They might be of great use in the future."
She then told Nancy about the uses of these flowers.
Nancy did not know much about them and her eyes lit up after listening to Nell’s explanation.
The two of them then put their plan into action.
Naturally, they could not let Fred and Karen know about their plan.
Nell did as she said and placed small vases of flowers all over the living room. She then piled up the rest of the flowers and dried them outside.
Nancy was sitting obediently behind the stove to keep the fire burning. The light from the fire reflected on her cold face and made her look like a bright jade in water.
She curled her lips into a slight smile.
In her heart, Nell thought that this group of old guys who were sitting down before her was probably now discussing whether Nancy should stay or go.
Sure enough, after they had quarreled for a while, someone got up and came over to the kitchen.
"Busy picking vegetables?"
A man looked at her with a suggestive smile.
Nell flashed a fake smile and did not bother to reply to him.
This attitude, in that man's eyes, was taken as a girl's shyness.
He could not help but sigh in his heart.
It was a pity. This girl was good-looking but had given birth before.
He had heard from the village elders that the best babies were born to women who had not previously given birth.
Firstborn children were smart and proportionate, so when his family bought a wife, they must also buy one that had never given birth before.
That woman inside looked a little cold but was also quite good-looking. After he brought her back for some disciplining, he figured she would be up to par then.
As he thought of this, he walked inside with satisfaction.
"Aunt Karen, is there anything I can help you with?"
He asked Karen, but his eyes darted from time to time towards Nancy, who was behind the stove.
Nancy had noticed his line of sight, but like Nell, she did not even bother to glance at him.
Aunt Karen managed to smile in the end and said, "There's nothing you can help with. You guys go out and have a seat. The food will be ready soon."
