At this very moment, frustration and anxiety overwhelmed Nell.
She frowned tightly as she experienced a sense of impending doom.
Fortunately, the turbulence stopped after a while and the plane was steady again.
The rest of the passengers in the cabin did not mind when they realized the plane had stabilized. They thought it was caused by a collision with airstreams, so they did not bother about it.
They either went back to sleep, chatted, or read their books.
Still, Nell was unable to calm down.
Soon, Nancy returned.
“I’ve told them and they agreed that the two fellows seemed strange. Three and a half hours since we boarded the plane and they have already been walking around for four or five times.”
Nancy whispered as she sat down next to Nell.
Nell nodded and looked at the end of the cabin. She whispered to Nancy, “Did you feel the turbulence just now?”
An astonished expression appeared on Nancy’s face and she blinked. “Yes, I did. It’s probably due to the changes in the airstreams and it’s normal.”
Nell shook her head.
“I don’t know why, I just have a weird feeling.”
“What weird feeling?”
“I don’t know.”
She hesitated. She simply could not find the right words to describe what she felt.
In the end, she sighed helplessly. “I might be overthinking it! Hopefully, all is well.”
Nancy eyed her. A few seconds later, she chuckled. “You must be really tired these days. You didn’t even have a proper rest on the plane just now. Do you want to nap again?”
Nell understood it was pointless for her to be worried under such circumstances.
She might as well get some well-needed rest. Assuming anything happened, she needed her strength and attention to tackle the problem, so she nodded and agreed.
Nell resumed her nap, but Nancy did not do the same. On the contrary, she sat beside her alertly and kept watch.
The cabin was silent. Currently, the plane had flown for nearly four hours.
Most passengers who had been chatting or reading were tired now. They began to fall asleep.
The stewardesses dimmed the lights in the cabin and drew the curtains. Easily, the darkness lulled the passengers into slumber.
However, Nancy heard a series of weird crunching noises.
She was alarmed and tensed up at once.
Nell was jolted awake too. She opened her eyes and looked at Nancy in the eye. They noticed the fear and insecurity in each other’s gaze.
In the meantime, the other passengers heard the sound too.
Everybody glanced around nervously to search for the sound’s origin.
Someone discovered that it came from the rear end of the plane.
An invisible sense of terror spread across the cabin. Some passengers screamed for the stewardesses while others pressed on the call button above their seats repeatedly.
Yet, strangely, nobody came.
It was then that the people realized the flight crew had disappeared without a trace.
It was weird enough that there was not a single attendant in the first-class cabin. Furthermore, no one came even though the passengers kept summoning them.
The crunching noises persisted. All of a sudden, the plane began to rock violently.
All of the people on board were frightened by this unexpected tremor. Nell and Nancy were appalled too and they grabbed one another.
“Something’s wrong!”
Both of them reacted at the same time and exclaimed.
Nell and Nancy were horrified, too.
Nancy went pale and whispered, “Are they the two people we saw earlier?”
Nell frowned. “The limping one?”
“Yeah.”
She swallowed and recalled something, then put on a parachute on Nell.
“There isn’t much time and the plane’s gonna crash. They are terrorists and I reckon they are on a suicide mission! They might be targeting someone on this plane.”
Indeed, at the next second, the voice from the PA system reappeared. “Afterward, we’ll look for two people from among you. For those who don’t wish to die, sit tight, or get a parachute and leave. We don’t want to kill any innocents, we just want to look for those two and we won’t harm the rest.”
“What the f*ck?! You say you don’t want to kill any innocents, yet you’re about to crash the plane?!”
Someone from the crowd scolded.
Nell had a sudden hunch. Were those people targeting her and Nancy?
Two people…
Still, there was no time to think.
Nancy had already dragged her along and led her towards an exit in the rear.
The turbulence was overwhelming and one could not walk straight. If not for Nancy’s support, Nell would not have been able to head there.
The other passengers saw them and followed suit.
However, from afar, Nell saw a limping man standing at the doorway. He was holding a gun and regarding her with a wicked smile.
They were here!
It was them!
As expected, they were targeting them!
