True love would not fade over time, but age like fine wine.
The passage of time would only enhance its depth and finesse, and would not affect the quality of the wine.
She recalled that when she first married Gideon Leith, it was half-coercion and half-resignation that made her agree to it.
Back then, she did not imagine that the two of them could walk this far.
After being together with him for some time, she suddenly realized that it had been such a long time.
Her lips parted slightly as she gazed at him. Sincerely, she said, “Me too. I’m always missing you, every minute, and every second of the day.”
This proclamation completely made him swoon.
Previously, there was already a subtle smile on his handsome face, but now, it deepened into an elated grin.
The corners of his lips parted and transformed his face into a huge smile.
“You’re coming back in three days?”
“Yup.”
“I’ll pick you up from the airport.”
“Okay.” Nell paused, then reminded him gently, “Don’t go too early. Just arrive at the scheduled time, and be careful on the road.”
Gideon nodded. The two of them continued the lovey-dovey conversation for a little longer until he arrived at the company. Then, they blew each other goodbye kisses.
By the time the video call was over, Nell’s food had already gone cold.
All Nell wanted was to look at him every hour and every second, how could she be bothered about food?
As a result, after chatting for half an hour, she had only taken a few bites of her food. Now, it was too cold to eat.
However, she did not like to waste food, so out of desperation, she had to send it back to the kitchen to be reheated.
After finishing dinner, both of them returned to their rooms.
Having practiced for the entire day, Nell was tired. After she was done showering, she scrolled on her phone for a little while and promptly fell asleep.
The next day was also another full day of practice.
The only difference was that, around dusk, she went out and settled the work matter that she went there to do.
Probably due to the rejection he experienced the day before, Bob did not try to befriend them again.
He simply helped them get organized and handed the keys to them accordingly. When his gaze landed on Nancy Murray, there was a tinge of frustration and yearning.
Nancy pretended not to see it.
Nell could not stifle a laugh.
After the practice, Nell felt that her condition was quite well-adjusted. Although it could not compare to her peak performance in the past, it should not be a problem for her to win this competition.
Therefore, when she and Nancy returned to the hotel that night, they rested well.
All there was left to do was to head to the competition arena in the afternoon the day after.
They got a good night’s sleep and slept all the way to the next morning.
When Nell woke up, she and Nancy headed straight to the competition arena.
Flying was the largest, most highly-recognized, and most well-known annual event throughout the racing industry.
Those who participated in this competition were basically the top contenders in this circle.
For this exact reason, it was popular among car-racing audiences all over the world.
There were two categories in this competition.
The first was a team representative, while the second was an individual race.
Nell did not belong to any team, so she was an individual race participant.
When everyone first heard of her name, no one knew who she was.
Regardless, he did not have a choice. This was a competition, so a loss was a loss.
He had to accept defeat. Thus, Nell managed to earn a ticket to the finals.
The other person who proceeded to the finals with Nell was a man named Gepira.
He was an Indonesian. Nell saw him race earlier that day. It was very intense, but he was still a little less skilled than her.
Even so, Nancy could not help but feel a cold sweat in her heart.
The final was scheduled to commence at night so that the two participants could rest in between.
Nell led Nancy Murray into the lounge. Her brain was occupied with tonight’s performance. Suddenly, they heard a loud commotion from outside.
Nell’s brow twitched in surprise.
She sent Nancy out to check. Soon, Nancy came back in.
The expression on Nancy’s face was extremely complicated, as though words could not express her disbelief. Nell raised an eyebrow, gesturing to her to speak. Finally, Nancy uttered, “Even if I tell you, you might not believe it. Guess who did I see just now?”
Nell shook her head. “How would I know who you saw?”
Nancy sighed. “I saw the participant name Gepira. He was arguing with the organizer, saying that he would not compete against a woman. He said that men and women cannot compete in the same competition and that this was an insult to competition rules.”
“Allegedly, as the nobler of the two sexes, he would not be too critical with women. Therefore, he wanted the organizers to find a solution, either to change competitors or to redo the competition.”
Nell was astonished but immediately broke into a laugh.
“Change competitors? Did he mention, who should be changed?”
Nancy wore an expression which stated that Nell was asking the obvious.
“Even an idiot would know that he was talking about you.”
As she spoke, Nancy rubbed her temples with a headache.
“This is already 2019, why is there still such a ridiculous misogynistic mindset? And how dare he refer to himself as the nobler of the two sexes, what bullshit!”
