Nell’s eyes deepened.
She was silent for a moment before saying, “Isn’t that better? It’s been five years since the incident and I didn’t want to bring it up again, but if someone comes and deliberately picks a fight with me to make me unhappy, I shouldn’t just let them off easily either, right?”
Janet was slightly surprised.
“Nelly, did you think of a way to deal with them?”
Nell’s lips curled.
“You’ll know when the time comes.”
Time flew quickly, and a week soon passed.
Christmas was in two days. In Leith Corporation’s president’s office, Gideon looked at the scarf hanging on the shelf and smiled.
He pressed on the internal line and called Matthew in.
“President, you called?”
Gideon asked, “Have you settled the things I asked for?”
Matthew was stunned but quickly reacted to what Gideon was asking.
He hurriedly replied, “It’s done.”
“Hm. Take me to have a look after work.”
“Certainly.”
After a pause, Matthew suddenly thought of something and pulled out an invitation from his pocket.
“President, this is an invitation for you from Azure High. They’re holding their 70th anniversary celebration this weekend and have invited you to attend. Do you want to go?”
Gideon paused.
He subconsciously felt that the name Azure High seemed familiar.
Matthew quickly reminded him. “The Missus studied at this school.”
Gideon finally remembered that this seemed to be the case.
His expression was indifferent. “Is she going?”
“I believe she is.”
“Then I’ll go too!”
“Understood.”
In the evening, after Nell returned home, she had just finished taking a shower and came out when Gideon asked, “I heard that you’ll be attending the school celebration the day after tomorrow?”
Nell turned around and saw him sitting on the sofa. She nodded. “Yes, what’s wrong?”
The man’s gaze seemed slightly bitter.
“The day after tomorrow is Christmas.”
Nell was stunned.
Somewhat bewildered, she pointed to the scarf draped over the hanger that he had worn almost every day for the past week. “Didn’t I already give you a gift?”
Gideon. “...”
His chest hurt.
However, he felt that he could still save it.
“Well, I have yet to repay you for that. Why don’t we have dinner together that day?”
“There’s no need. I’ve already agreed to eat with Jan. We’ll be going to the school celebration party afterward too!”
Gideon. “...”
‘Forget it. I give up.”
On the weekend, Nell got up early.
She reached out to tease Nell.
Nell could not help but laugh.
“Alright! You’ll call the shots.”
She knew that Janet was doing this for her. Besides, she had no intention of being a doormat tonight, so she went along with Janet’s plans.
After three hours, the both of them were ready.
The stylist had picked out a sky-blue hand-embroidered dress for Nell.
The dress had a tube-top design, and the chest, neck, and half of the arm areas were made of tulle. On top were hand-drawn floral designs inlaid with tiny diamonds that shimmered and glittered.
The bottom of the dress was in a fishtail design. From the chest to the thighs was a large blue ocean, but when it reached the calves, it transitioned into a transparent mesh that looked like stars that spread all the way to the fishtail hem. It was also full of hand-embroidered patterns that made it so people could not help but find the workmanship ingenious.
Nell’s figure was naturally good, but Janet had not expected that it would be this good.
The fishtail hem truly accentuated her figure.
Putting aside the curve on her bottom, her whole back was slender and straight, and the narrow lines on her waist were highlighted with a different kind of sexiness because of the open-back design.
In Janet’s words, she was drop-dead gorgeous!
Nell looked at herself in the mirror and was also momentarily entranced.
It was said that people relied on their threads and makeup. It seemed like that was true.
The stylist also picked out a pair of silver high heels for her with a matching handbag and jewelry. She looked even more bright and charming.
Janet nodded and praised. “Nelly, you’ll definitely knock the breath out of everyone tonight. I guarantee it!”
Nell laughed.
She did not care if she stood out or not, but it suddenly occurred to her that since it was a school anniversary celebration and she was invited, a certain someone would be there as well!
There were those who wrung their fingers every day hoping that she would have a bad life. How could she just let them do as they pleased?
