Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 650

He seldom fought with her, much less had he ever fumed with rage.

However, people would not understand that sometimes, a person who never argued back was not someone who loved you the most.

One thing was for sure, that person did not have your best interest at heart.

He did not care because he was unconcerned.

Since he did not care, nothing was important in his eyes no matter what you say or do.

Only that lowly trouper forever held the key to his heart!

His once childhood friend, his long-lost love, a woman whom he had pined for his entire life but could not forget.

Yet, she was not in the position to be angry.

Even though her husband’s heart belonged to someone else, she had no right to be jealous.

For the very reason that a living person could not simply vie with someone who had ceased to exist.

How was she to fight?

The woman was dead. It was a death so intensely lustrous and beautiful, it left a lingering image in his heart.

It was like a nightmare unable to be rid of, entwining him and her.

How was she supposed to compete with that?

With that in mind, Natalie’s eyes gradually reddened.

Her heart, as though chained down by something, was sore and hurt.

Her gaze fell on her phone screen once again. She laughed at herself.

Look, this was her son.

She painstakingly gave birth to him and brought him up. Now, he took the opposite stance of her, persuading her to change her mindset and be magnanimous!

Ha! Oh... the irony!

Natalie was unaware of how long she was bawling her eyes out.

She cried until she heard footsteps coming from the outside and the respectful voices of maids downstairs. “Sir, you’re back.”

Natalie wiped away her eyes and went to the bathroom to freshen up before heading out.

She was just at the staircase when she saw Xavier returning from outside.

Noticing her presence, Xavier enquired with a kind look on his face, “I heard that Wendy is in the capital? Where did you take her for a stroll today?”

Wendy might only be a distant niece of Natalie’s family, but Xavier still showed concern.

With a poker face, Natalie replied, “We went to Times Square to walk around.”

Xavier could not detect the unhappiness in her face.

He smiled and responded, “This child is about to graduate from high school. Now that she finally has a break to come and have fun in the capital, you should keep her company. I heard that she’s planning to enroll in a university here. You can give her some advice. Aren’t you great at this?”

As a matter of fact, Xavier did not have any other intention when he brought this up.

There was nothing to read between the lines. He was just saying that Natalie was forward and willing to offer advice to children of relatives.

However, perhaps Natalie was caught in a bad time.

She actually observed the mockery behind the words.

Natalie scoffed. “What am I great at? So you’re saying that I can only help other people’s children in deciding which universities to go to? Don’t I have my own work or anything else to do?”

Xavier was taken aback and confused.

It took a while before he weakly answered, “I-I didn’t say anything.”

To his dismay, Natalie was not going to let it pass.

Natalie merely took a few bites before putting down her chopsticks.

She picked up a serviette and wiped her mouth before she got up to leave.

Surprised, Xavier took a glance at the almost-untouched food and frowned. “Where are you going?”

Natalie replied peevishly, “None of your business.”

The furrow between Xavier’s eyes deepened.

This time, he did not keep his silence nor did he back out.

He urged her in a kindly manner, “Regardless, you should finish your dinner. You have a bad stomach and if you don’t eat properly, you’re going to be troubled with your tummy the entire night. No one will have a good sleep then.”

His intention was not to shower Natalie with disdain.

He merely wanted her to take care of her body and not be tortured by her tummy ache in the middle of the night. It would be troublesome if the doctor and maids at home had to take care of her.

However, Natalie only heard the dissatisfaction in his tone.

The fury bottled up inside of her suddenly rose to great heights.

She turned over abruptly and stared at Xavier, unleashing a tongue-lash. “Are you the one having a stomachache? Do I bother you with my tummy ache? Do I need you to tell me this? If you can’t bear it and don’t like it, you can get out and stay elsewhere! I’m not the boss of you! Who is begging for you to sleep here?”

Her sudden outburst caught Xavier off guard.

All the more it validated to him that Natalie today was different than usual.

He contemplated for a while and believed that it was best he refrained from arguing with her during this time.

Xavier did not want this to turn into an ugly fight.

There was no need for the matter to blow out of proportion.

They were decades old and their children were already married. Feelings would only be hurt at a heated exchange.
