Nell worked on a few cases and analyzed past cases in the company.
She distributed the work and was busy up to noon before the meeting was adjourned.
Some in the company remained unconvinced but after the meeting, they basically accepted her wholeheartedly.
After all, these were once cases that tested their patience, yet Nell managed to propose solutions in a brief meeting.
These proposals were definitely applicable and would put them on the right track.
Under such a circumstance, it was not long before Nell kept a secure footing in the public relations department.
Gideon was at first worried that people would secretly come in the way because she was still young. Hence, he sent Matthew to scope out.
However, in the short span of two weeks, he soon discovered that the employees of the public relations department did not elbow Nell out. In fact, they submitted to her order, following her every lead.
Gideon curled his lips at the report from Matthew.
He realized that she was more outstanding than he ever imagined.
She was clearly of an aloof and indifferent nature, yet the moment she entered the working field, she turned quick-witted and decisive, a force to be reckoned with.
Whether it was her ability and methods in handling matters, she was by no means inferior.
A certain somebody was filled with pride.
The display of excellency was coming from his woman, after all.
With his master happy, Matthew too shared the joy.
Nevertheless, he could not wrap his head around an issue.
Matthew stole a glance at Gideon and noticing that he was in a good mood, he asked out of curiosity, “President, you disapprove of office romance, saying that it’ll affect the work, why did you...”
Gideon darted him a stare.
There was inexplicable obscurity in his eyes. A brief moment later, he smiled.
“You won’t understand even if I explain.”
Matthew, “??”
‘How would I understand if you don’t speak of it?’
Gideon waved his arm. “Alright now. I know what I’m doing. You can quit with the questions.”
Unable to query further, Matthew left the matter to rest.
Time flew and a month had passed.
Winter had arrived.
Jincheng may be situated in the East, but winter came at an earlier time. It has now been over a month since the approach of winter. The snow was piling up outside.
As it was the weekend, Nell did not need to get to work. After an inspection tour around Xinghui in the morning, she could not be bothered to leave the house in the afternoon, so she snuggled up on a sofa to read a book.
Gideon took a trip back to the capital for a few days. He had plans to bring her along but was refused by Nell.
She had not made up her mind whether to return with him.
Nell had the feeling that it would be awkward to head to the capital in their present relationship.
Gideon did not insist, knowing what was in her mind and nature. Familiar that an adverse effect may ensue if he came in too strong, he gave her time to reflect on it.
There was no cause for concern with her by his side. It was not like she was going anywhere. It all boiled down to time.
He had all the patience in the world.
By the time Nell received a call, it was five in the afternoon.
The caller ID lighted up her eyes.
Accepting the call in a hurry, she heard the familiar voice.
“You’re back?”
Taken by surprise, she looked behind.
A young couple was walking down the stairs. The one who called out to her was the girl.
“Is it really you? I thought my eyes deceived me!”
The girl took quick paces over with an astonished look on her face. With a hint of disdain presenting between her brows, Nell threw a faint glance at her without a word.
She forked out a bank card from her purse and gave it to the sales clerk, telling her to swipe it.
After swiping the card, the sales clerk colorfully responded, “The total is thirty four thousand eight hundred. Madam, this is your scarf. Here you go.”
Nodding in gratitude, Nell walked out with her wrapped up scarf in hand.
Having been brushed off completely, the girl who came from upstairs smirked in contempt.
“What’s with the attitude? I heard that you broke up with Jason Morton? Are you some gold digger? Wow, you’re willing to spend thirty thousand on a scarf? Is it for your sugar daddy?”
Nell’s eyes turned chilling.
Turning her attention to the girl, she coldly blurted, “Lily O’Hare, watch your mouth!”
Lily remarked with a smug, “Didn’t you pretend not to know me? So you know me now?”
Lily O’Hare went to the same high school as her. They were in the same grade but not the same class. Nell was indeed familiar with her.
In those days, she had just gotten acquainted with Jason when Lily took fancy on him.
Only, Jason gave her the cold shoulder. Later, he began to pursue Nell and once the pair were together, Lily held a grudge against Nell for a long time.
Who would have thought that she still could not let it go after six years?
Nell coldly sized her up before letting out a sarcastic grin.
“I’m sorry, I don’t think that knowing you is a good thing so I pretended not to see you. There, are you happy with this answer?”
