Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 613

Lucy took a shower after Joel left.

She found that Carina had already prepared a meal when she walked out of the bathroom.

After having been on edge for the entire day, her body and mind were equally exhausted, and there was not an ounce of energy left in her.

Joel was thoughtful enough to be aware of this. That was why he had asked her to stay put at home and rest up while he went over to the police station to catch up with the investigation.

Anything else could wait until tomorrow when she had enough rest.

Lucy was positively famished, so she did not hesitate to pick up the chopsticks when she registered the delicious aroma wafting from the dishes.

Carina was in a good mood now that she knew Lucy was home safely. She blabbered beside Lucy to keep her from feeling bored as she ate.

Just then, Carina’s phone rang.

Since Fourth had taken Lucy’s phone away when he kidnapped her, and she did not have a chance to search for it after he got caught, she had no phone with her right now.

Carina pulled her phone out and glanced at the caller ID. Her eyes brightened up when she saw the name.

Then, she sneaked a glance at Lucy as if she was reminded about something. “Lucy, it’s Brother Si. He must have known you’re back, so he’s calling to see if you’re okay.” Her expression was hopeful.

Lucy still had no idea what Simon had gone through that day, but she was surprised to hear that he called. “I thought the filming crew wasn't supposed to know about this. How does he know?”

Carina proceeded to tell her about how she had met him by chance that night.

With that, Lucy was finally informed.

“Then, pick up the phone. What are you waiting for?” she said with a smile when she saw that the phone was still ringing.

Carina picked up the phone.

An anxious voice came from the other end of the line when the phone connected, “Carina, I heard that Lucy was found. Is that true?”

Carina looked at Lucy for a cue and only spoke when Lucy gave her the go. “Yes, it’s true. Thank you for your concern, Brother Si.”

Simon seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. “It’s good that she’s back. Oh, is she okay? Is she hurt?”

“No, she’s doing well. She’s not hurt at all.”

“Who kidnapped her? Did you guys find out who took her? How was she found?” Simon asked too many questions, and Carina was not sure she was at the liberty to answer any of them, so she turned to Lucy for help.

Lucy met her gaze and grinned as she waved a dismissive hand. She took over the phone and said lightly, “I’m fine, Simon. I’ll tell you everything when I’m back on the set. Don’t worry about me!”

The moment Simon heard her voice, he knew that she was really okay. He blessed the gods as he let out a breath of relief.

“Oh, you don’t know how scared I was! Your assistant hurt her foot trying to find you that night. Everyone was so worried about you. Thank goodness you’re okay. I don’t know how upset we would be if something happened to you.”

Lucy widened her eyes at his words. She turned to Carina and asked, “You’re hurt?”

Carina did not expect Simon to tell her about that, hence she waved her hands to dismiss the issue. “It’s nothing! I’m fine.”

Lucy did not say anything else. Instead, she turned to the phone and said, “Okay, please help me keep this a secret. I’ll talk to you once I’m back on set.”

Simon had been informed earlier on that Lucy’s disappearance should be kept a secret. No one except the director knew about it. Everyone else thought she was just taking a break. He promised to keep it a secret on the phone, and they hung up after a few minutes.

Lucy looked over to Carina when she ended the call. “Come here,” she ordered.

Carina took a step back fearfully and gave her a shaky smile. “Lucy, what’s wrong?”

She let Carina roll the cuff of her pants down and said, “You should recuperate with me for the next few days. Don’t go running away. If you need anything, just ask Mike to get it for you.”

Carina also knew that running around with her wound would affect its rate of recovery even though it was nothing serious. Immediately, she nodded without a word of protest.

Lucy was ready to return to bed after finishing her meal.

A commotion seemed to have unfolded right outside the door when she was just about to move.

She frowned and saw that Carina was growing uneasy as the noises outside persisted. The assistant grabbed Lucy’s arm and asked, “Lucy, who is it?”

Lucy’s eyebrows knitted together, and she listened intently to the disorder outside. Then, she rushed to the door as if she had been struck with a sudden realization of some sort.

A person was struggling their way to the door when it was opened unexpectedly, revealing Lucy and Carina in the doorway.

Mike stepped forward with a grave expression and bowed. “I apologize for disturbing you, Miss Katz.”

Not far from where they were, Mace caught a glimpse of Lucy behind the two bodyguards who were trying to restrain him from advancing any further. He tried to run to her but was pushed back immediately.

“Lucy, are you okay? Thank goodness you’re fine. These people aren’t letting me see you. How can they do this?” He was so mad his face was flushed red.

Lucy frowned at the sight of him.

“Let him go,” she told Mike.

Mike frowned without realizing it. He knew who Mace was. If Mike did not know that Mace was involved with Lucy and that he would likely upset her if he did anything to him, he would have thrown him out a long time ago. After all, he would not let him cause such a ruckus loud enough to alarm Lucy.

Although Mike was silent for a few seconds, he eventually waved a hand to tell his men to let Mace go.
